Re: Sunscreen school policy I need advice I'm pissed
Because of my exchange of emails with the school I guess, I just received and email that is addressed to ALL families

"Hello Families,

As the sun continues to shine, we want to make sure the kids are protected! Licensing requires us to apply sunscreen on students when they are in the sun. Without sunscreen, students will be restricted to playing in the shade. We use the Health Department recommended Coppertone Waterbabies or Coppertone Kids on all exposed skin. If you prefer to use a different sunscreen, please send it to school. It must be a sunscreen with a manufacturer's label showing the SPF.

Thank You,

... Staff"

you reply, hello school, it is fundamentally against my religion to apply sunscreen so therefore my child will be wearing a vegetable strainer on his or her head for protection. thank you have a nice day..

sincerely...

Empty out a bottle of sunscreen. Make your own mixture of substances that you feel are safe for your child. Place mixture in the bottle. Send that shit to school with your child. Don't make it complicated.

The atmosphere is thinner in the northern hemisphere, hence it does not matter how safe you think it is in comparison to other areas.

As for vitamin d levels being low and needing the sun to produce it - well, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes TOPS for the body to produce it from solar exposure. But, with the overall increase in UV rays hitting the surface - those levels will crash anyway as whatever is produced is used up to repair damage. Sunscreen or not, yoru child is not safe in the sun beyond a few minutes. Take it as you will...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69455431

Yes, it's the sun, not the 1300+ atomic bombs we have blown in the atmosphere.

Same with lungcancer. People smoked a lot more back in the 40's, so we should have seen the peak-lung-cancer long time ago.
Well.. we have not, it's still peaking, and their assumptions are just wrong.

When dealing with any school, first thing to do is retain a lawyer...

$1200-$1500 for a lawyer and the school will give you anything you want.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Do the kids get to use their own sun-screen? If so, I'd buy a bottle of sunscreen, dump it out, and replace it with aloe lotion or something. Then, he can be slathered with the lotion, and no one is the wiser.

If each kid doesn't get their own sunscreen, I'd invent some allergy or something and say the kid needs his own special (medical, organic, whatever) sunscreen that you will be happy to provide. Once again, he gets slathered with something that's not sunscreen, and no one is the wiser.

A funny side note...I understand that now, a lack of Vitamin D is becoming a bigger health threat than the threat of skin cancer.

We live in crazy times.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69272347

They can use their own sunscreen.
I already emailed them, but they are dicks (no offence to dicks, I love dicks!)

That's what I emailed the yesterday.
"Ms Manetta,

Yesterday ..... told me that he was not allowed to play during recess in the sun.

Please do not restrict his movements during recess as he needs to be active, after all he is sitting for hours in the morning.

As I said I'm perfectly OK with him in the sun for 30min at a time without sunscreen for a few days.

As you know he has a skin condition that prevents me from using anything on him right now.

I'm going to test him with some aloe vera + avocado oil gel, hopefully he'll not react to it as this is a gentle and soothing gel, but with hives you never know.

Both the aloe vera and the avocado oil have sun protective properties.

If I provide you with the gel would it be accepted as an alternative to the sunscreen? "

and the reply:

"
Yes, you may send your own sunscreen. It needs to have a manufacturer's label showing the SPF. Our licensing policy prohibits us from allowing kids to play in the sun without sunscreen. If you have any further questions, please contact "

I'm honestly sooo pissed!
My son goes to a small private school in WA, he is in second grade.
I was just informed that the school's policy is "no sunscreen/no play in the sun".
My son is made to stay in a tiny corner of the playground that provides shade for every recess, just because I refuse to put sunscreen on him.
I've already explained that he suffers from eczema and the last year haves and I will not put anything on him. I don't even use soap. Nothing....
First of all our kids are so low on vit D that they need some sun exposure, second we are not on the equator for god's sake, we are in the Northern WA, you can barely get enough sun if you expose your whole naked body to it. The only naked parts on my son are his face, hands and bellow the knees.
This is just retarded.
Don't you hate it when the school tries to be the parent?

This resembles to the T how we were treated during the communism.

I emailed his teacher and that's her reply:

did you know that sunscreen like glass allows the correct wavelenght of light through to the skin to produce vitamin d2. the body has to convert this d2 into d3, which in turn takes up d3. leaving a net loss of d3.

understand?

Whether one uses sunscreen or not, going outside during the daytime - especially if one is white skinned - will shorten one's life considerably. You people know exactly what is happening on this planet. You all can see clearly that EVERY species on the planet is experiencing massive die offs and going down - including humans. Sunscreen is not the cause of low vitamin d levels nor is is causing skin cancer other than by giving people a false sense of security to stay in the sun for long periods of time.

To continue to push the meme of 'no sunscreen protection - go natural' is a sign of psychological dissociation. How about telling people to stay out of the sun? Oh wait, the official advice is basically to do just that - but that's just a conspiracy to the disturbed.

ASKL FOR A fucking copy of the "licensing policy" as there is no such thing in WA state and then take it to a lawyer.
it works, I had a teacher in my kids 8th grade class tell them if their parents don't sign the school "conduct regs" she was going to mark them down a grade which is also bullshit and I told her so and told her if she does this again I will hire a lawyer. they never asked again.
p.s. I live in WA state.

Re: Sunscreen school policy I need advice I'm pissed
For whatever reason and no matter what you believe the cause is, UBA and UVB radiation at the planets surface is much greater than they were when we were kids. UV radiation causes DNA damage and DNA damage leads to cancer. Most cases of skin cancer are not particularly dangerous, but melanoma is usually fatal. UV exposure can also cause painful burns that don't ever heal right.

So how do we protect ourselves and our children from this damaging radiation? With chemicals applied to the skin? I think that's one solution and probably the only solution if you want kids that are active out of doors doing things like swimming, where it is nearly impossible to cover the skin. Kids should wear at least tight fitting short sleeved shirts and knee length shorts to avoid having to use a lot of chemicals. The fact is though, the damages can be minimized by clothing choices, and kids should be wearing brimmed hats, UV blocking sunglasses, long sleeved wicking type shirts that reflect and block sunlight but do not insulate in the heat, and long pants as opposed to shorts. It might not be stylin', but it's a lot more comfortable than dying of melanoma or having gross skin discolorations. One of the most often overlooked items for kids is sunglasses, and I am certain that in the next ten years or so we are going to start seeing the results of that negligence with eye damage in young adults. The sun is much more intense and bright now than it was 20 years ago, and the human eye is not adapted to this intense brightness, now the elevated UV. UV radiation is particularly dangerous to people who wear sunglasses that do not specifically filter it, because the pupil will dilate allowing for more UV to reach the corneal, lens and retina. Get good high quality polarized sunglasses that specifically state they block UV

Take an empty sunscreen bottle, wash it thoroughly and fill it with organic, cold-pressed coconut oil. Have him use that, it is 100% effective at blocking UV and doesn't have Benzoil, which when exposed to UV rays breaks down into Benzene - A KNOWN CARCINOGEN. That's right, sunscreen causes skin cancer!

Good luck OP - Fight the power!

The increases in lung cancer correlate perfectly with the testing of nuclear weapons int he atmosphere. before the testing smoking did not cause lung cancer. A lot of people like myself believe the only reason there WERE more cases of lung cancer in smokers than non smokers for a few decades is because 1)smokers tend to work and play outdoors more than non smokers, and 2) fallout from the tests in the desert fell onto the tobacco plants in the east, plants which are known to be efficient in concentrating and uptaking radioactive isotopes.

I grew up in Bulgaria, still under the communist regime.
We were led like a cattle to the dentist (every school had a dentists cabinet, they ruined my teeth!

The nurses would show up in class, without warning and will vaccinate all kids at the spot, no parents permission was needed.

etc. etc.

Thanks, but no thanks, it is not the school's role to care for the health of my kids!

I'm sorry that my son is in a private school, but every penny here we earned with work, work like most Americans haven't seen!

Anyway, thanks for your input.

There is actually more magnetic field and atmospheric protection in the tropical-equatorial areas at present.

The Earth's magnetic field, which protects us from radiation from space, is getting weaker. We don't yet know why this is, but new evidence confirms it is happening unevenly across the planet with some areas getting more protection

The field averages a strength of around 40,000nT, so even the loss of 80nT over North America (see above) is small. However, this is in a period of just six months – should the trend continue for long enough the effects could eventually become serious. A weaker magnetic field would expose the planet to increased radiation, both from distant supernovae and from the solar events,

It takes 8-10 minutes in the sun to get all the vitamin D you need for the day. Its very had to be vitamin D deficient during the summer.

Check out these links. the first is to a specific thread about the changes in the Sun, the second is a search result of GLP for "Yellow Sun"

Notice the percentage of people who observe a change in the Sun as oppose to those who claim it is unchanged, also take note that the "unchanged" demographic are all known shills known as pathological liars.

Re: Sunscreen school policy I need advice I'm pissed

"Yes, you may send your own sunscreen. It needs to have a manufacturer's label showing the SPF. Our licensing policy prohibits us from allowing kids to play in the sun without sunscreen. If you have any further questions, please contact..."

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well, you're getting the OS. the magnetosphere is only part of the problem and does not block UVA, UVB or visible light at all. And it is important to understand that at times it almost completely fails , there are dangerous voids from time to time.

The main problem involved is a change in the Sun and the resulting effect it had on the protective layer of the atmosphere.

No it is not.
Some 30-40% of all 14 years old girls are Vit-d deficient at end of summer.
