The sources of this oil are restaurant fryers, sewers and leftover or used oil that is sold by restaurants. A newer version of gutter oil uses discarded animal parts, animal fat, internal organs, and expired or otherwise low quality meat which is then cooked in large vats in order to extract the oil Last Edited by WildFlower on 09/08/2013 07:25 AM |

Excessive pesticide use, illegal additives, diseased livestock, and “gutter oil”are their primary concerns.[1] If one billion people are scared of their country’s human food supply, then this US pet parents should be alarmed about the pet food it’s exporting for our dogs and cats. |

In 2010 babies in Central China under 15 months old were growing breasts. The milk formula they consumed contained residues of growth hormones that were administered to the livestock.[13] In March 2012, 200 grade school students fell ill after eating egg yolk pie; it was found to contain chicken feathers. [14] In March 2012, a food processing company, with an annual output of 8 million ducks, admitted to selling dead ducks instead of incinerating them as regulated.[15] In 2011, restaurant waste “processed” into two to three million tons of swill-cooked dirty oil, was resold as cooking oil (aka “gutter oil”).[16] In February, 2012 a woman bought a roaster chicken from a grocery store only to find it had four legs. She was told it could be a deformity from radioactivity.[17] In 2012, more stores sell fake or deformed eggs[18], expired meat products and normal chicken as “free range”[19]. In 2008, six Chinese babies died and 294,000 were made sick by another case of melamine tainted formula with 51,900 requiring hospitalization.[20] In 2008 Chinese pork dumplings tainted with methamidophos (a banned highly toxic pesticide) exported to Japan and sold domestically made 500 Japanese and countless Chinese agonizingly sick.[21] [link to goodnessgracioustreats.wordpress.com] |

But some politicians expressed concerns about the takeover of the company, especially given China's huge demand for pork imports and rising prices in the US market, as well as concerns over whether the Chinese company would adhere to adequate sanitary standards. Shuanghui has insisted it will keep the company's US operations and brands, and would uphold safety standards. "This transaction will create a leading global animal protein enterprise," Shuanghui chief executive Zhijun Yang in the statement Friday. [link to news.yahoo.com] And also ship Poultry there to be processed and shipped back... While the logistics are hard to imagine-if we can't safely leave chicken out for the length of a family picnic, how can it be shipped halfway around the world and back with no ill effects?-the USDA is doing its best to reassure both chicken farmers and consumers that the process is 100-percent safe. "The Food Safety and Inspection Service's number-one priority is always food safety," Perkins says. In the official memo, the FSIS says that "all outstanding issues have been resolved"-a pretty big promise considering that in the past year alone China has made news for passing off rat meat as mutton, selling sausages filled with maggots, inexplicably finding thousands of dead pigs floating in the waters of Shanghai, and even having an outbreak of the H7N9 bird flu in live poultry. Eventually they will take all work over to low wage staffing They will alsy fasttrack these foods for the unwashed masses (lab meat etc). The best land will eventually be held over for those who can afford it. But in terms of manufacturing, low wage zones will get the work. And as regards land...they will do what the British nobility did in the middle ages...squash the unwashed masses into terraces and subdivided houses...they call em two up and two down over there. The richies will then grab the rest of the residential land. |

Could someone please explain to me HOW it can be more efficient/cheaper for US companies to ship dead birds across the ocean to be "processed" and then shipped back and sold with the label "product of USA"?? |

Chinese dog food isn't good enough for our dogs, but somehow this is? We have truly hit rock bottom, there is simply no place else for us to go.... :ambar1: |
