A couple of times a week, I just go to the local super market, get a cart, and just walk around and make myself a sandwich or two.

Eat it in the store, and then leave.

Funny you mention the Casino's...
I go there regularly with my Dad.
We go at least twice a month when he gets his checks.
I have noticed a huge differance in the Casio.
People do not 'win' like they used to, even just a couple of years ago.
The Casino dosen't give you near the amount of 'free money' that they used to, or free stuff for coming and playing, like they used to do.
Because people aren't winning like they used to, and the Casino has stopped giving away the free stuff....there are less people there than used to be.
We used to have to go at a crazy hour of day, like 3 a.m., to avoid the crowds of people.
Not anymore.
We can pick any hour of the day , any day of the week, and it is not crowded like it was before.

Actually, no. I've been surprised to see that the affluent people are still spending as foolishly luxurious as they always have. Then again, so am I.



Same, the rich are back to buying Hummers that they had sold when the gas prices were too high. Even the illegals are buying items I cannot afford.

Economy still seems okay in Arkansas for now. At least the high end restaurants are doing okay. I do buisness with them everyday.

I agree, we eat out at nice restaurants here a couple or times a week and the places are always busy.

Along same lines, but a little off topic of stores, we take things to the local dump occasionally, and there they have a section for 'Donations', where folks deposit usable items of all manner of things. It is almost depressing to note that for the past year, there are crowds of people waiting for you to drive up and take something out of your car. They all dive onto it the minute you take it outta the car. In fact there are times when we have free time where we will say, 'hey let's find something around here to take to the donation drop off', just to enjoy the satisfaction of making someone happy....sad, I know.

pretty soon you will have to suck some grocery clerk cock just ot get those last cans of herrings in tomato sauce for 39.99 each

I live in the Chicago metropolitan area, and the stores here are poorly stocked, and many brands have been discontinued. There are constantly empty shelves. As for the marked down section, the competition is fierce, to say the least. The stuff goes as soon as it is put out.
You are right about Aldis. People that would never dream of shopping there, are shopping there now.
The food pantries in the area are begging for donations. Many have run out of food, and are turning people away. Our church used to donate many bags of groceries weekly, to the food pantries. I think I might have had to drop off maybe a dozen bags from my church so far this whole year. We are certainly not in a recession, we are in a depression.

LOL..My ex could not walk into a Kroger, without walking around drinking a chocolate milk, that he never paid for.
He told me he did it, because he felt like the 'store owed him' that chocolate milk, because they were so expensive on everything else.

I have noticed that a couple of the habachi places are cutting back on the portion size and now charging for rice.

I had to go shopping yesterday...something I don't do often, because I hate to shop...LOL
While I was there I noticed something very telling about the 'state of affairs' people are in these days.

I've always shopped very thriftily, and used to be able to find great deals in the 'mark down bin' in the meat section.
There used to be awsome cuts of meat that I could get for half the price, bring them home and put them in the freezer for later.
With me living in a 'wealthy area' ...it was not unusual for me to find whoe legs of Lamb, or a nice standing rib roast in there...beautiful steaks and chops.

Not anymore.
The past couple of times I've been there...it has been like a 'fight' to try and even see what is left to pick over...so many people there looking thru it.
They aren't just taking the very nice cuts of meat...they are cleaning the sucker out!
I've never seen this happen in this area before.
I'm in an area where houses start at $500,000, and end up in the several million dollar mark.

When it starts showing up in areas like this...people slashing costs, and families 'cleaning out the mark down bin"...they are starting to hurt as much as 'the middle class' people are.
That dosen't bode well for our Economy .
These are the people that own the business' that hire other people to work for them.
Also professional types like Neuro Surgeons, top Attorney's, ect.
If these people fall hard like the middle class has...I don't think there is anything that can be done to pull the Country up out of this Depression that we've sunk into so deep.
Because these people are the last in line to fall, before the Giants do...they are sort of like 'mini giants', and they provide a lot of people with jobs, or jobs are supported by their spending .( like the lawn service people, the housekeepers, private schools, interior designers, furniture makers, ect.).

It's not surprising that people eat in the wrong proportions, because the USDA "Food Pyramid" said they should eat mostly grains! The USDA got the proportions wrong, and this was curriculum in schools!

I live in the NYC suburbs and things are still OK here. Real estate has taken a hit but things seem to have leveled out. Costco has a lot of inventory. Maybe analogous to your experience with "meat markdown", it seems to me that Whole Foods doesn't have as many cuts on sale as they used to.

Had a neat experience in the Costco parking lot the other day. A brand new yellow Lamborghini Gallardo parked next to me and I talked to the very ordinary looking owners, they seemed just like regular folks (but apparently with quite a bit more money), wife had bought it for husband for his birthday.

Whilst I have not noticed any shortages in the stores, I have noticed that many of them are carrying less stock. Items that once filled a full shelf now only take up half. Many, many stores in my area have "rearranged" the shelves. They are not just clearing the store for the Christmas stock.

I have noticed that there are far fewer clearance items and that they have not reduced them as generously as in previous years.

For the last ten years I have been able to buy all the seeds and garden "consumables" that I needed for the following year in the reduced bin. There have been no reduced seeds at all this year. Good job I collect my own seeds!

Just goes to show that governments today are only window dressing for the people to make them think they have a choice, but of course the reality is that the global corporations have all of the real power and control over the people. You ever been to a yard sale? Those old bitches can get vicious. I was at one a couple of years ago, and they had a cardboard box full of old junk jewelry. Some old broad was muscling in like it was fucking gazelle meat still on the bone.

Remember that movie "Matinee"? It takes place during the Cuban Missile crisis, and a supermarket in the Florida Keys is swamped with panicked shoppers, fighting over the last box of shredded wheat.

I heard from people who lived during that era that shit like that actually happened, and that was over nothing! Can you imagine what it's going to be like when it really does hit the fan? Fucking mass murder in the streets over tins of Chef Boy-Ar-Dee!

Ice cream used to sell in half-gallons...now 1 3/4 quarts
Yogurt... 8oz cups now 6oz
Tuna... 6oz cans now 5oz

I used to work at Bunton Seed....hope you are keeping your collections/ extra's in the fridge!
Seeds stored in the fridge, will last much longer than if they are kept room temp.
Some seeds will last 5-6 years or more, if kept nice and cool, dry.
I store mine in a plastic coffee can, with one of those 'dessicant' things that come in bottles of pills, use it to keep them becoming too moist in the cold fridge.
In Jan. I run my own 'germination test'.
I use a wet paper towel, and count out 10 seeds , wrap the seeds in the towel, and put them in a zip lock baggie, flat.
You can see how many of the seeds sprout, easily...see how heavily you need to plant, determined by how many seeds germinate... ;)
( LOL..I always end up planting the sprouts from the germination tests, I haven't the heart to just destroy them, even if it is too early)

Everything is normal here.
I would advise some non-perishables and stock on H2O.
And toliet paper will be the gold standard.
