BREAKING: Southwest Airlines Is “Standing Down”All Flights For The Next Several Days

Besides being upgraded 97% of the time, this is exactly why I fly American every week.

Southwests Love Field is actually 30 minutes closer to home but 6 years ago they had a similar mess and I was done.

American is far from perfect, I've been fucked by them plenty too. It's part of traveling often and flying 220k miles a year

The problem is several fold

#1 VP hires that have no business being in the position they are in
#2 these incompetent “leaders” will never be fired for their failures
#3 almost all rampers in DEN walked off the job after being threatened by one of these “VPs”
#4 skysolver (the new’ish) program to fix scheduling hiccups is a colossal failure
#5 scheduling has NO idea where ANY crew are actually

Many reports of several crew members dead heading in the back who are legal to fly by scheduling doesn’t know where the flying crew are. So dead heading crew call scheduling to tell them they’ll be happy to fly out and get the plane on the way but they are on hold for over 1.2 hrs just to get through and ultimately it gets canceled

Didn’t get the vaxx and now the crews are dying. LOL

No one is going anywhere, and they will stay trapped wherever they are until further notice.

Sounds like yet another important reason to justify never, ever going near an airport ever again.

PS…. Look at all the bags and baggage in that video. Only Heaven knows how many thousands of tens of thousands of random bags and baggage are lost in the sauce right now.

Diversity hires

Several factors, including the mess that this week’s weather has created, have combined to bring Southwest Airlines into a nearly full-stop operational meltdown.

Besides the weather, they have personnel issues in several cities, the reservation system has collapsed under the rebooking load, and the aircraft and crew scheduling systems are completely overloaded. 10’s of thousands of people across the country are stuck….

As a result, Southwest will halt almost ALL of it’s flights on Tuesday and Wednesday to reser the people and airplanes required to make the airline work properly.

Southwest has canceled thousands of flights since the 22nd, and has declared an emergency status that suspends several union work rules, in an attempt to get back on track.

Passengers in some cities are being told they can’t even rebook a canceled flight until Dec31st, AT THE Earliest!

Short of a bankruptcy shutdown or 9/11, I cannot remember this ever happening in my 30+ years in the aviation business!
