I'm sooooo sick of being sick! Goodbye, halcyon days... There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 357109 United States 03/30/2008 06:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Personally, I think some of it is just comfort. People are used to being warm, 70 or so degrees. They go home, they relax, they work in a sane temperature, their car isn't cold for too long, etc. When they get cold, any virus in their system takes hold, because it's a kind of shock to their system. Meanwhile, I take such bad care of my body, going out in horrible weather improperly dressed, several times a day, sometimes as part of my job, other times for a smoke, and I can return to the warmth when I feel like it, so I'm not forced to stay out in it. Over time doing that, I think my body's so used to it I'm not shocked nearly as much. Most people don't have the same circumstances, or the experience doing it. They get sick even though some of them are wearing gloves to avoid germs, taking all sorts of other precautions, and part of me thinks this is just making it worse, as they're not giving their bodies a chance to protect itself, making it more susceptible when they are exposed to something. Like George Carlin said, as kids they played in the N.J. river, they were "tempered in raw sewage". Knock on wood... |

(OP) User ID: 360108 United States 03/30/2008 06:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've noticed, too. A lot of people I work with, and a lot of customers have been noticeably sick. Employees, you sometimes assume they might be playing hooky, but they're still getting sick and trying to come into work so they don't risk their jobs. Visibly sick. As OP said, many are sick, and it's turning into bronchitis, no real pneumonia cases that I know about yet. Meanwhile, they're not terribly happy with me, I go outside in the cold without a coat repeatedly throughout the day, I should be sick too. They're all blaming each other for giving each other whatever illness they think they have, meanwhile I work with them as well, and I'm just working like usual. Its not cold here in the Central Valley of California, its in the 60s and even low 70's for the past month or so. I rarely 'get sick'. Colds and flu I get around the holidays - and then its not lingering, long term or even enough to put me into bed. This time - Oy! I've been sleeping nearly 12 hours a night (My normal is 6-7 hours a night), fatigued and coughing, coughing, coughing. (OP) User ID: 360108 United States 03/30/2008 06:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just got this and I never get sick... it seems highly contagious. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 368516I agree. I was just amazed at how many people were in the pharmacy on a Saturday, and how many were in "urgent care" with what seems to be the same thing. I've been to Saturday clinic before - usually its just me and the sign in nurse. Sinkhole list: Thread: Sinkholes Updated 28 Dec 2010 find a sinkhole, add it to this thread, please. Thank God, I didn't get it, otherwise, nobody would be able to take care of anyone. I've been eating garlic for the past few days coincedentally, I think it helped. Doctor said a flu and strep are going around, some people got both. This one can cause complications like Pneumonia. |

I too NEVER get sick, but here I am sneezing and chasing my runny nose with tissue all day. I feel very fatigued and out-of-sorts.
