Abilify - Medication- Anyone have any advice on whether to take this shit or not?!!!!!

Please tell your opinion, even if you haven't used it if there is anything you know about it from research/ friends/ family using it that would help as well.

All I know is from the commercials - if yo are allergic to abilify do not take abilify.

It helped me at low dose. No side effects.

If you have any diabetes in your family - DO NOT TAKE (or cholesterol issues)

Vaxxed - SUDDEN CARDIAC DEATH

Siezures or ms - DO NOT TAKE

Tardive diskenesia a major side effect (can rarely, if ever, be controlled)

Most deaths in studies are from sudden cardiac death or uncontrollable infections



Bottom line - i would NOT take it.


Most psych meds these days have WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more side effects than you are led to believe. SSRIs, SNRIs, SGAs, etc.

Why are they giving it to you?

It is not like SSRI's, Or other Antipsychotics. The side effects are minimal, I find, though I have to say it has made me fat.
(Mostly because I was lazy to begin with, but still!)

It is much safer than other drugs of its class, and helped tremendously in terms of removing self-deception and other illness from my mental processes. I attribute this to healthy thinking, but the medication has a notable dampening effect overall.

Are you being offered this medication or is it mandatory?
If its mandatory, Take it, Its one of the safest ones.

If its not mandatory I dont know if I would take it, due to the weight gain. Thats just me though, I believe in minds overcoming psychosis and other mental illness through medication as well as change of thinking.

Was hoping this med would be safe, but the more I read, the more I give up hope on this one and all meds. This was the last thing I thought could be of help, but not sure I want to take the chance.

Well then, so maybe I'll try it. Fuck, I feel like with these meds its like Pandoras box, once you take it theres no going back.

It doe s actually help and makes a difference for those needing it. But remember once you start using it…. The off ramp has to be gradual.

But it does absolutely work.


With all medications there can be side effects. But just monitor closely and work with your health professional in that regard.

Pleae look into microdosing. Its an ancient remedy.

It is safer than most all of them out there, but still all drugs have issues.

I have went through a lot of research because my kid is on it. And since it was my kid, as a parent you try to be as cautious as possible.


You have to weigh out the risk and benefits. Even after starting it, you still should monitor to see if it works for you and continue to evaluate.

Hmm it's a pretty full on drug, are you sensitive to other drugs? I've had serious reactions to zyban(Wellbutrin) and Quetiapine, I've just seen my mom seriously fucked by Risperidone, same drug killed my uncle a few weeks ago.

Have you tried alternative methods to combat your condition? Valium has worked for me in the past

CBD and CBN

If you are in a medical marij state, try microdosing.

Also, lithium OROTATE 5mg (can take up to 8 pills a day)

Ok, Abilify is an antipsychotic.

Unfortunately, all these drug companies started making new antipsychotics in the 2000's, and then when they weren't making enough money on them, they started marketing them for depression and anxiety.

Do not take them, for the following reasons:
1. they can cause tardive dyskinesia, a permanent movement disorder.
2. They can cause HUGE amounts of weight gain
3. They cause abnormal glucose metabolism, which greatly increases risk of diabetes.

One patient I had ended up in the hospital due to diabetic ketoacidosis.

Best advice I can give for anxiety and OCD:
alfalfa sprouts have been shown to help with ocd
change your diet - go on the autoimmune diet - it will stop the inflammation in your brain, which is what is causing the symptoms. no sugar, no flour, no grains, etc... also get tested for food allergies.

I myself used to have terrible mood swings and anger issues and partial seizures and psychosis, and when I gave up flour and corn, my symptoms improved greatly.

Also, regression hypnosis is good for OCD. Get a good hypnotherapist who knows how to take you back to the time where you felt you had no control over your life. That is usually when OCD is triggered.
