Put Up a Tent Indoors If you’ve ever been on a camping trip, you’ll know how quickly tents get warm. If you’re really struggling with the cold in your home, consider pitching your tent in the lounge! It’s a quick and easy way to trap body sheep and provides you with a warm, cozy environment. Has to be the most euphemistic phrase for lice I have ever seen. And using the critters for heat is pure genius. . . No clotshot, NEVER! . Mad as hell! . |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78324391 United States 09/24/2022 12:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We went two weeks without power a few winters ago, so I blocked off my living room with heavy duty tarps, pitched our tent up and kept the fireplace stoked, we were actually sweating. The toilet seat was cold as F**K though. Quoting: Texas Patriot 68737764 LOL, I hate that cold toilet seat! I've heated with wood for years. My neighbor put in a propane stove that looks just like a wood stove, with cement decorative logs. If you do install propane, make sure you buy your own tank so you can shop around for better deals on refills. Those propane companies that supply a tank will really rip you off! The problem I have with wood is the bugs eating up my wood. I have to use up my stored wood within a couple of years otherwise it will turn into sawdust. It still works, but it has lost a lot of it's mass, and it burns up quickly. |

Very cheap way to have somewhere warm and dry. Also clothes can be put under blankets to drive away cold and damp. When power goes off, leave the blanket on (when not asleep) so when it comes back on, if only for few hours it will get to do it's magic. Better yet an electric over blanket can be used when sitting in a chair or on a bed. Cost less than a dollar a week in electricity. |

Simple gas flame burning of course with the flue damper open. 3) There is a cheap Chinese Diesel heater that gives you clean heat. it has 2 small 12 volt fans and a 12 Volt fuel pump. Heat output is equivalent to 5kw. You just run the little exhaust pipe out a window. Also called a truck parking heater. They cost around $100 . 4) I have a gas stove, so I alway had 2 burners on making hot water for coffee and instant soups. 5) I am not a fan of stoves that do not vent like Kerosuns or Big BUddy propane heaters, but a lot of people use the BIg Buddy propane heater without issues so I include it on the list. 6) The candle and the clay flowerpot thing is absurdly dumb. Like pissing in the ocean to raise the sea level. That's all I have to say about that. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 09/24/2022 01:59 PM Justme |

Keep on hand two 5 gal buckets with lids. One for liquids and one garbage bag lined for solids. Wood chips, sawdust, cat litter or lime will help with the odor. |

They will not keep you warm, but will let you see what you are doing in the dark with the use of a vehicle battery, and will last a decent length of time without too much drain. At least you'll be able to work during the dark - so keeping warm that way. |
