The 2-billion-year-old nuclear reactors in Africa baffle researchers!
Fascinating:

In 1942, physicist Enrico Fermi and a team of workers built what they thought was the first nuclear reactor in a Chicago racket ball court. Unfortunately, nature had beaten them to the punch — by eons.

I'd say they were flummoxed more than they were baffled.

“However, most of the mainstream researchers believe that Oklo is the world’s only identified naturally occurring reactor which was created by accident. As scientists Norman Schwers and John A. Miller from Sandia National Laboratories explain in a 2017 paper, the concept of a naturally occurring reactor was originally documented in 1956 using reactor theory or the infinite multiplication constants.”

I read about this several years ago. The natural reactor was given as most likely with a meteor impact as a catalysis to start it.

It is fascinating to think of the other options.

Not natural, it was a real nuclear reactor that had been in service for 500,000 years. 2 billion years ago.

The fuel was spent and the diggers thought it was brand new ore.

Lab tests showed it had already been extracted.

Re: The 2-billion-year-old nuclear reactors in Africa baffle researchers!
Yeah im pretty open minded, and the green glass in the deserts of libya or the radioactivity of mojendo daro in pakistan are pretty interesting anomolies but this...

"Finally, researchers and scientists from all over the world, after conducting detailed investigation, came to the conclusion that, six large nuclear reactors as old as 2 billion years old are located near Gabon’s uranium mine, and has been active for at least 150,000 years!"

is such a bombastic statement with ZERO references just stinks...

That article itself has no way of validating anything...

Perhaps its true, and the discovery of that amount of refined uranium sure is interesting but I need something else to back it up...

Interesting nevertheless
