I won't be able to endure working around any silly young people anymore, I have to be employed independently or work in all adult focused businesses. Tomfoolery |

Here is the problem. Actually, she is very traumatized. It sounds like she is single too. No kids. I hate to tell you but, fist you are going to have to tell her the harsh fact that she needs to set up a daily schedule and help out around the house. She is getting a help up not so much a help out. when she does you need to praise her like crazy, sort of like you are her boss now. But, also criticize her when she does not do things well. Not badly, just disappointment. Then throw in a challenge and a bribe. You see right now she believe she is a loser. She does not care if video games destroy her life anymore. Iam sure there is plenty of time she is crying in the shower, when she gets there and she feels like crap. It might not be up her alley, but some places like U-Haul, places that offer their own unique training for employees. They will hire you with just a cursory application with little information. And, they are always hiring. The pay is not the best but offers a flexible schedule and people to meet and interact with. You kid need to start out simple again, and realize what she can do again. You daughter needs an environment that offers a lot of support and yet at the same time can nudge her forward and get her feeling good about herself again. People that get burned in the work force not only loose skills, but they also lose confidence. The only thing that cures that is a paycheck and a mostly friendly environment. U-Haul for instance like to but ex teacher and various types of people that have done (like military) instruction in charge of their major stores for training personal. These people are used to a turnover of recruits/ student. As long as your daughter has a good attitude, they will work with her. No matter how few hours she starts off with or what hours she thinks she is capable of. It is going to take time. but they will "de-horse" her. Meaning it will be a gradual process to get back to the point where she is willing to move on and upward. Anyways, being from a similar situation myself. I would never have seen myself loving working for U-Haul, like I do now. Infact, I read an article lately that U-Haul was one of America's top10companies to work for. It is growing exponentially, does not pay the best, but often time the managers are very flexible with your schedule and what you think you can do. Plus, they have their own university and the more you train on your own the more you earn. Just show up for work when you say you can. Stay late... even better. The nice thing about U-Haul you are always doing something different through out the day, that is usually very helpful. Most the time the interview process is simply coming in to work for the day. You get paid that day. Infact several days, if you just keep showing up. Incoming rental trucks always need a good cleaning, but that is not all, There are boxes and materials to organize, moving blankets to folded, trailers to hook up and customers to deal with. There is training for it all. That is only for beginners too. That is not all. It is simple and complex at the same time believe it or not. Anyways, you need to get her working around the house a bit first, and then set up to job that offers training and so forth. . |

Here is the problem. Just love her through this with a non-judgemental understanding that sometimes life knocks the shit out of the best people for whatever reasons and now it's a chance to maybe get it right this time. Whatever you do, don't nag her about her games she's well aware that she's most likely using them as a coping mechanism which is entirely normal given her situation. Anyways, do everything out of love & for the highest good of all. I wish you and your family the best. Remember, you got this. |

Here is the problem. Your daughter has ergophobia is sound like. She is probably a perfectionist too. Which means she will not start anything without the end in sight. Thus you need ot be careful. Throwing her out there and cutting her off, means she will contemplate suicide seriously. She has lost all confidence. She did not get right back up on the horse so to speak. Now she has a lot more fear and depression. You are going to have to go slow, since you too set the situation. |
