I would bet that the US is tracking each weapon. if one moves from storage the commander will get a phone call with an offer to move his family to the US and get a big reward if he disables it.

I would also bet the teams go in and disable any gadget before they can fly

Not directly ... but cities right next to major military bases that deal with nuclear retaliation WILL be collateral damage.

Think Norfolk VA, San Diego, Honolulu, Bremerton Wa, Lincoln Neb, etc. etc.

After the first wave cities "may" be directly targeted because of size or critical industrial output. Those would include NYC, Chicago, Houston and the entire ship canal areas, New Orleans, Long Beach, San Francisco Bay from the city to San Jose, Seattle, Boston, Cincinnati, Niagara Falls area, etc etc.
