Not sure if this story helps, my current state of understanding from what I have gathered so far

1. Supreme Reality alone is/was. Unaware of it existence.

2. Then after eternal time (time didn't exist), somehow it suddenly become aware that it is. This tiny feeling 'I AM' consciousness suddenly arose and Supreme Reality was aware of it existence.

3. This feeling, a small point of nothingness, an atomic emptiness in the ever infinite Supreme Reality appeared.

Some Kaballah studies say the Supreme Reality contracts itself to create a tiny nothingness. This nothingness gave Supreme Reality awareness of itself.

4. All the universe seem to exist in this small nothingness due to energy fluctuations. And these changes appear in a tiny bubble which can be called consciousness, the original feeling I AM.

5. However, the Supreme Reality is not the consciousness (original feeling) or its contents. But it is a primodial entity, one level up, and aware of the changes and the feeling I AM.

But if you're hellbent on 'being cool" and reading 3rd world writings, stir clear of the entire Asia. I would instead recoommend you read Don Miguel Ruiz and The Mastery of Love would be the first one I recommend, it is excellent. (And they don't reincarnate over there!)
