With rising inflation, that might put constraints on large businesses. People will not be spending as much. Therefore, profits may suffer. As a result, the NASDAQ may not preform well in 2022...

What do you think about Value Stocks in the sectors of Health Care, Financial Services, Industrials, and Consumer Defensive???

Holdings such as AIG, Equity Residential, Comcast Corp Class A, CVS health corp, and US Bancorp...

I also have holdings in the NASDAQ, but limiting my exposure...

Was also thinking about diversifying my investments and investing in Vanguard International Large - Blend. With holdings in companies from Japan, United Kingdom, Canada, France, and Switzerland...

No, what you must understand about the American people, and in general, is that no matter what they will spend every dollar they get their hands on, save nothing, and put the rest on credit card...and if they save, where, a bank? I have banks in my portfolio too...I am every where there is in the economy to catch a dollar...

Mutual funds only...no individual stocks in my portfolio

If a mutual fund has 80 companies in it...now you are buying 1/80 bricks at a time lol

try to calculate the odds of just 1/2 of those strong companies going bankrupt. Astronomical.

Now we buy them in all sectors of the economy, the four groups are:

Growth

Growth and Income

Aggressive Growth

International

Put 25% in each as you contribute each month.

Agreed on all of this; one of the reasons I don't like things like Robin Hood for my generation and younger; it drives (gamifies) the in and out, while they really should just be sitting.

For the those with comments about evil, do what I do, title a portfolio "The Masses," its where I invest in things of which the masses can't help themselves.

I was self-employed and maxed out my IRA for 26 years...I, as a business, of course matched myself...and there are other ways to get money in it and exceed the maximum...

Then my taxable brokerage account is what I retired on...I sell every quarter to support my habits...

My IRA will never be needed, so the lawyers shuffled their papers and in 18 years, when I'm 65 and my IRA is unlocked, all three of my children will begin receiving distributions...There's no point in waiting until I die, so they get early inheritance distributions...It will be taxable, but in Indiana, when I die there is no inheritance tax.

Thank you great point.

Let me now explain capital gains tax:

I am not a tax expert, however I do know that every time you pull money out of the market, called "realizing" a gain (or Loss) you then generate an IRS form for any due capital gains...

Pulling out a few thousand is insignificant, as capital gains tax is very very low...But imagine pulling out millions...or Bill Gates playing that game with his Billions!

So basically, if you tell me you fear a market crash and you pull out, all I heard is "I'm inexperienced, confused, and retarded" and you're not wealthy...

Let me teach you how to become wealthy...

Re: If you have been invested in just the NASDAQ for the last three years, you have made 101%
Here is a basic outline of my trust for my family and the future generations as far as I can envision:

As I said, I have built as IRA that I don't need. My taxable account is what supports my retirement...

So, when I reach 65 in 18 years, imagine the growth! Each of my three children will recieve by direct deposit, 3% of the entire value of the IRA, for a total of 9% per year.

At 9% we still grow, either at the 12 average or if we pick great mutual funds, we make 20% or ever more!

When I get squished, of course then my taxable account adds to the pot...and the house and other assets...and the same rules apply.

My kids are perfectly happy with receiving 3% annually instead of taking their due 1/3, why?

3% of just 1,000,000 = $30,000 each per year

10,000,000 = $300,000/ year as it continues to adjust to the ever growing portfolio!

And who cares about inflation when you are making 300k from the family trust on top of you regular salary...You are living right!

And the BEST part is when we die! It goes to the next generation, and the next, and so on...

Re: If you have been invested in just the NASDAQ for the last three years, you have made 101%
Look at these three charts, if you need proof, and average the three big indices:

DOW for 2019-2021= 22.3 + 18.9 + 7.2 = 16.13%

S&P 500 2019-2021= 28.9 + 26.9 + 16.3 = 24.03%

NASDAQ 2019-2021= 35.2 + 43.6 + 22.3 = 101.1%

2019-2021= 141.43% average = 47.23%

If anyone wishes to double check me, feel free...

So I would like to once again introduce my theory of, for lack of a better term, the "Do something Syndrome"

Basically, my theory has proven correct and effective.

In the face of uncertainty in life, and here we are discussing economic uncertainty, people have the kneejerk reaction to "DO SOMETHING".

I have proven to myself over the course of 30+ years of investing, that the best strategy is to DO NOTHING...

If you pulled out of the market in the last three years, you lost out!

Investing is for the long term with the goal of never cashing out...You only take distributions, and let your portfolio grow into a monster!!

If you pull your money out of the market trying to time the prevention of a loss and then time the gains, to put the funds back in, you are not an investor...A gambler, but not an investor...

If you began the pandemic with 100k, you would have more than doubled your money 200k+ (being very conservative)

However, if you missed out on 10 of the largest days of growth in that time period, we calculated you would have lost $35,000, and have $165,000 remaining...

Remember, investing is making a loan, not "Here's a few grand, now give it back and hope some money sticks to it" LOL That is not an investment strategy, unless poverty is your goal...

Many of you have asked me to make an investment/money thread, so here you go, ask away...

Just this morning my mom said all she wants is for my Downs brother to be taken care of...He is

Then she said she doesn't want money (because she has always had it and never worked for it), so I said ok Mom, too fucking bad...She just sent back a heart smilie in the text lol

Why did it come up?

Dad just passed and she is making a safe 6%

I told her I guarantee 12% over the long term, but we average 20%

They may not meet my criteria, and thank you for bringing that up!

Like I said, I choose mutual funds in each of the four sectors of the economy for complete diversity...

They must prove a ten year record of averaging 10% minimum or I will not buy them...

If your funds meets that criteria and it gives you exposure to new territory, go for it, expand your empire!

Re: If you have been invested in just the NASDAQ for the last three years, you have made 101%
You know the markets just suck up savings and capital from local economies into fascist global corporate models. Meanwhile local economies where people work for wages die on the vine.

But support whatever you want, it's a free world right?

the greater the national debt is

the greener the stock market is

the ponzi scheme

You are uneducated and I can fix that. A Ponzi scheme is built on nothing, a house of cards because there's no assets to give value to it...

A stock is actual ownership of a piece of that company. You get voting rights...They send you a yearly prospectus...Make them send paper not a link...

Understand?
