Then what do you specifically invest in? for example just "nasdaq" or specific things within "nasdaq" so you have $1000, you end up with $2000 (im using round figures here) then what? you take it out, how much do you actually get out after taxes and fees? Im not looking for specific numbers, just round figures and a bullet point list. Thats something Ive not come across and I think it would help a lot of people get started |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77098490 United States 01/01/2022 01:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The key is to produce enough income, live way below your means, take a sizeable chunk of cash that is saved and put it to work in investments. Take a small portion and put it in saving as an emergency fund/cover living expenses so you're not forced to worry about your investments. At a certain point you're going to start earning more money from your investments rather than your job. What the bottom 80% do is this. Their job is their main, usually only, source of income. It is the worst taxed form of income. They do not invest the money, they spend and consume. They have zero emergency fund. Inflation only affects the low and middle class because paychecks don't magically go up to beat inflation. Investments, however, can significantly offset any loss in purchasing power. |

Just about everything is double what it was 3 years ago, so what have you gained? Nothing. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79837853 If you had 10 million invested for example, and you doubled your money to 20 million, where in that equation does inflation matter? You are beyond inflation at this point in the game... The AC who posted that is poor and doesn’t have any real money to invest anyways. Those who worry about inflation are the bottom of the barrel. |

So I would like to once again introduce my theory of, for lack of a better term, the "Do something Syndrome" Basically, my theory has proven correct and effective. In the face of uncertainty in life, and here we are discussing economic uncertainty, people have the kneejerk reaction to "DO SOMETHING". I have proven to myself over the course of 30+ years of investing, that the best strategy is to DO NOTHING... If you pulled out of the market in the last three years, you lost out! Investing is for the long term with the goal of never cashing out...You only take distributions, and let your portfolio grow into a monster!! If you pull your money out of the market trying to time the prevention of a loss and then time the gains, to put the funds back in, you are not an investor...A gambler, but not an investor... If you began the pandemic with 100k, you would have more than doubled your money 200k+ (being very conservative) However, if you missed out on 10 of the largest days of growth in that time period, we calculated you would have lost $35,000, and have $165,000 remaining... Remember, investing is making a loan, not "Here's a few grand, now give it back and hope some money sticks to it" LOL That is not an investment strategy, unless poverty is your goal... Many of you have asked me to make an investment/money thread, so here you go, ask away... [link to www.macrotrends.net (secure)] [link to www.macrotrends.net (secure)] [link to www.macrotrends.net (secure)] I agree with everything here, but i am afraid i am the gambler you speak of, i have been trading in the market for that exact time frame and have dumper close to 12,000 at a loss, blown up multiple accounts and had 1 really good run in that time frame, in which i gave it all back, i was day trading for that time period, now im scalping Option Contracts with more risk.. i have gotten really good and finding stocks that move, to day trade, but still lack confidence to enter and exit, finding them is easy at this point, its trusting the intuition that has proven results time and time again, i think i would do far better swinging common shares and or Option contracts, but my greedy gambling self doesnt pull out of positions cause that position isnt doing well, its usually pulling out of a good position to get into a loser at the top.. maybe im just venting , maybe you got tips for me, i appreciate you creatiung a thread for this, ill let you know how i do this month with a different strategy in place carramrod |
