Before the vaccines, the chickens died at a rate of 80%... that other 20% cleared the virus. With COVID, vaccinated people clear the virus... generally faster than non-vaccinated. There is LESS chance for the virus to evolve. Being vaccinated is no different than being previously infected, or infected and fighting off the disease in a couple of weeks. But you know who doesn't clear the virus? AIDS patients. They are the vaccinated chickens, incubating trillions of viral replication cycles until something nasty happens. It's two completely different scenarios. I read somewhere over the last couple of days that they were trialing a pill version of a drug to conquer Covid in South Africa. That could have led to the development of this variant with all of the strange mutations. A virus will do what a virus has to do to survive, thus we have Omicron. It is suspected this variant might have emerged in an HIV positive person. |

Right, so *if* the increase in prevelance of Omicron is due mostly to immune escape, then the virus may have sacrificed other 'features' to improve its ability to transmit in the vaccinated or previously infected.
