So the whole of the west is acting like china did just shy of 2 years ago.

They know mote than they letting on as ever. They know the vac is worthless now

I think this whole global reaction is their way walking back on all that shit they said repeatedly for the past 6 months about breakthrough infections being "rare" when they are actually 40-50% of cases in most regions.

Now they can finally admit that breakthroughs are not "rare" because Omicron, even though they haven't been "rare" since Delta hit.

Except the cases that seem to be showing in SA so far are in unvaccinated.

The problem is this variant really does look like a whole new virus for all intents and purposes. Which is not a reflection of breakthrough as much as a narrow coverage for the vaccine.

South Africa is only 24% vaccinated, it only makes sense that most cases are in unvaccinated because most people are unvaccinated.

Thanks for the posts, AC. Yes, the world is going to be different -- it's going to be a lot like March, 2020 -- but this time, we really might need to sterilize our groceries and wear full hazmat gear to leave the house (as many thought we did in 2020).

People are so pandemic-fatigued, that it is going to be very hard to get compliance from a lot of the public, though if they see people dying, that might change things.
