I don't know about anyone else but I had some very dark dreams last night. Not had anything like it for years.

Those are just confirmed cases. A regular COVID test does not tell you the variant.

They take samples at random from COVID tests and do additional sequencing which is more time consuming and expensive, which tells you the variant.

I'm not sure the ratio, but it's only a very small portion of tests that get sequenced.

Not sure if you have me blocked or not still, but I feel the same way.

And you guys all know my history of dismissing scariants (which proved correct except for delta, I'm like 6-1 in those judgements).

What if this covid variant only causes mild cold like symptoms and rare hospitalization but no deaths…bigger, what if when infected by omnicron you become immune to all other variants of covid…this variant provides immunity through your own body’s immune response…no vaccine needed?

Delta was the real deal also. Definately no Scariants, it proved the vaccines to be nearly worthless.

funny u should say that. i'm on the fence with this 1. timing of it all is too coincidental. don't think this is the real monster. just a scape goat for the failure of vaxes and deaths in young from the vax.

i do think a variant will mutate to attack vaxed more or that all vaxes won't stop someday. not sure someday is now thou.

Well, well, well... This new "variant" causes sore muscles. So does lifting free weights, and that doesn't scare the populous into a 1000 point market drop. SHEEP!

That’s pretty close to impossible, Im sad to say.

The claims that it only causes mild illness are taken out of context (the lady was talking about some kids).

The claims that the vaccines still help is also nonsensical based on the data; they say 65% of their hospitalized cases are unvaccinated, but SA’s vaccination rate is 30%. It’s indistinguishable from no effect at all.

The odds that this evades all prior immunity is very high; it matches closely to experiments on the spike that were meant to create the “perfect” immune evasion (suspiciously so, even).

Now why can I say that the odds of it becoming mild are near zero?

Covid damages you with three mechanisms:

1. Viral replication resulting in cell death (all over, from heart to bowels to neural cells)
2. The superantigen site causing immune system exhaustion; and
3. Overreaction of the immune system (cytokine storm, etc).

For this variant, viral replication is much worse. The Ct values are around 18, indicating a viral load 64x higher than Delta (which was 1,200x higher than Covid Classic). So 1 is worse.

The superantigen site is still present. The immunosuppressive/exhaustive effects will be identical if not worse. That superantigen site is the main reason SARS-CoV-2 will never become benign.

A higher viral load will mean that the overreaction of the immune system is either the same or worse.

I would expect this variant to be something like 3x deadlier, or even worse, based on the viral load. Given its immune evasion properties and high contagiousness (we are now approaching the most contagious disease in human history), this is essentially a new and more dangerous pandemic.

A final note on those calling us “sheeple” for discussing it: there’s something that I’ve termed Agenda Orthogonality (AO) that matters a great deal in these discussions and is key to understanding any proposed conspiracy. The basic idea is that political agendas and objective facts are on two different dimensions (orthogonal to each other, like an X and Y axis). The fact that something is used as a political tool or an agenda has no bearing on the objective facts of the thing in question.

Now, if this came from another lab (a non-trivial possibility), then if anything the fact of the danger of the virus is positively correlated to the political agenda. By that I mean that it is MORE likely to be dangerous, not less. A more dangerous virus better serves their political ends. Authoritarianism is more appealing the greater the threat.

Either way, discussion about the variant does not somehow translate to support for medical authoritarianism. These are separate axes. And either way, I think it’s highly likely at this point that we are going to see everything get much, much worse as a result of this variant. And we are now facing that possibility while half or more of the population is (rightly) actively rebelling against the so-called medical authorities. That will make containment efforts almost impossible.

So hold on to your butts.
