Please educate me but isn't the moon supposed to be much further away than that it would seem that that shadow should be impossible. Y'all need jesus. |

Quoting: Kvothethebloodless My question is how in the world is it possible for a shadow to be cast on the moon from a satellite in low earth orbit? Please educate me but isn't the moon supposed to be much further away than that it would seem that that shadow should be impossible. The shadow isn't being cast on the moon. It's being cast on the telescope from ISS. ISS is just blocking a small portion of the moon. |

(was it cool too, or does temperature not affect things too much?) Yes, temperature can very much affect things. I'm sure he let his scope sit outside and equalize in temperature, unless he has a dedicated observatory with a permanently mounted scope. |

Yeah it had been outside for a couple of hours before the pass. The outside temperature was actually pretty close to room temperature. The atmospheric seeing wasn't too bad for Florida, but certainly my best shot is still the crew one capsule docked to ISS months ago when it was cooler and drier outside. |
