Anonymous Coward User ID: 79592928 Canada 03/12/2021 04:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I seen the same scam 1 month ago and they were trying to scam an 80 year old guy out of his money. I shut that shit down. We're talking a 40K scam that was this close to being irreversible. As soon as the 80 year old guy said gift cards that was the tip off. I said you were being scammed. I swear I ran into the 80 year old guy while he was in route to drop off the 40K. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79646370 no dollars were stolen. Excellent, you saved this day! So many people are being targeted; the elderly are the most vulnerable. Not enough they pay the price at the nursing home, also the scams. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77376498 United States 03/12/2021 04:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What I'd like to know is how this scam got put together with my phone number....I mean, how do they even know I buy at Amazon, much less my phone number?.... Quoting: cosmicgypsy It seems like someone at Amazon or who used to work for Amazon is selling the info. How do youse guyses think mine and others info got to them? Everybody uses amazon. I get chase credit card scam stuff we don't have a chase credit card. They just keep trying until somebody bites. I simply don't answer the phone anymore: unless I recognize the number (any call). They can leave a message...."they" never do. Now If I could just get my 80 year old mother in law to do the same. Jamaicans almost got her twice. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78406038 United States 03/12/2021 04:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Amazon somehow got ahold of my debit card details and have been charging me $13.77 per month over the past 6 months. Fortunately I caught it and the bank cancelled my card and sent me a new one. Watch out for the bastards. We have been getting phone calls from them as well. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 58964186 United States 03/12/2021 04:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Your order for BLANK costing $1500 will be arriving but can you verify please?" It is a scam and they will say you have to pay a restocking fee to cancel. Don't be gullible. They might promise you through unofficial channels like a letter they will grant you a gift certificate that sounds too good to be true to take a survey which ultimately asks for personal details. It is a scam. |

For immediate help please call the helpdesk at 202-XXX-XXXX." Sadly I may have missed hundred of opportunities presenting theirself via these spam calls, which is almost a shame because anyone that receives a spam call has a moral obligation to demean and de-spirit the caller for intruding upon their tranquility. Until your military service has required you neutralize enemy combatants and invaders in the defense of your country, don't presume to tell us that have defended you that you don't support every shot we fired to eliminate that enemy. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79863386 United States 03/12/2021 04:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My elderly mom just got the same call yesterday. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79273806 Funny you can post 1 thing on social media and the FBI will kick your door in but these scammers must seem to never get caught... hmmm? I reported a few people with information that the police and FBI could tack, they tried to pass the buck. Police and FBI are there to collect the biweekly checks. They don't care about the crimes. If you know where to look for information, you will know what is going on in your neighborhood, but the police will deny it. They will still report their City to be the best in Security. No wonder Americans are demanding defunding police. |

Quoting: Butch DeFeo Follow this one rule, to start^. Yeah, I got another call in my area code I didn't recognize. I didn't answer it. I did however think about answering it to fuck with them.... Life's too short though.... Decades ago when people often sent Fax spam, I would take three sheets of black construction paper, tape them together and feed them into my Fax machine and tape the bottom sheet to the top sheet so it ran in a loop and call back the sending number after business hours. Two things could happen: It could waste an entire ream of paper and a cartridge of toner or it could cause the fuser in their Fax machine to overheat, start the Fax on fire, and if they had sufficient 'bad karma' in life as a person, set their office on fire and burn them out of their job. They called me, I merely ensured there would be no follow-up call. User ID: 80128791 New Zealand 03/12/2021 04:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just got a call from an Indian. Very strong accent. I could barely understand him. I thought he was pushing health insurance on me. I said, "Before you go any further, I have health insurance from the military. All free healthcare." Quoting: nutmeg Then he said, "No. Not healthcare. Funeral expenses." ..lol....I told him to have a good day. Oh, they get nasty... vulgar... it's awful. These are call centers in Indonesia and Pakistan. India is a hot spot for scam call centers. Challenge them when you know it is a con. Two or three years ago, I got called by that Indian clown, pretending to be from Microsoft tech support. I played dumb briefly than said, “that’s right, this is one of those bullshit scams isn’t it?” The guy wasn’t pleased at being called out, but I have never heard from them again. Any sarcasm in this post is purely intentional. |

I get the calls every day trying to scam me despite joining the "National Do NOT Call List" about 10 times. They cant even speak English well enough to be understood so they can scam you. Cant wait till all the newly arrived citizens on our southern Border take jobs in the call centers, it will be a wonderful opportunity for them to embrace their new country and scam us all or else steal the catalytic converter on my truck. |

I dont open any of the scam emails either. But sometimes you do get scammed. It just happen to me a fake major US tool company site, I ordered some tools thinking it was a major company. It wasnt some foreign scammer who managed to get up a fake website to the first page on google for this particular tool company. Credit card company was understanding and said I wasnt the first they had few complaints about the same scam. Why they didnt shut it down when the first complaint came thru is beyond me. |

The charge for me was $1,400 and I sure as hell wanted to talk to someone. Quoting: cosmicgypsy After purportedly getting my Amazon account up, he said something about getting my SS#, he wanted to know how much money was in my bank account.... I gave that guy the run around for about 15 minutes until he finally hung up on me. I did call my bank afterwards and there was no pending transactions, so....yeah. Also, the phone number was a local phone number....heh, I did not know Amazon had a business here in my little town.... At any rate, this is just a heads up to beware of phone calls from Amazon.... Good Job! Making sammiches great again! USA! USA! USA! |

I've also received calls claiming my social security number was compromised and I need to call such and such a number. And we get a lot of the 'prize' calls like you've won a trip to Barbados and $250,000 in cash and we want to deliver it to your door tomorrow. I always say, okay just deliver it certified mail and I'll sign for it. They always hang up. |
