HEADS UP: Just got an Amazon scam phone call....BEWARE!

Most of us here are smart enough to know better, like I did, but there is a scam going wherein you'll get a call from "Amazon" saying there's a large charge and they want it verified or you can talk to someone. The charge for me was $1,400 and I sure as hell wanted to talk to someone.

After purportedly getting my Amazon account up, he said something about getting my SS#, he wanted to know how much money was in my bank account....

I gave that guy the run around for about 15 minutes until he finally hung up on me. I did call my bank afterwards and there was no pending transactions, so....yeah.

Also, the phone number was a local phone number....heh, I did not know Amazon had a business here in my little town....


At any rate, this is just a heads up to beware of phone calls from Amazon....

I always ask them if they are wearing a thong, even the males.

Heh, I kept saying I couldn't understand a word he just said and could he repeat it....harhar, it became frustrating, for him.

Honestly if anyone is dumb enough to fall for that... let them. You can't fix stupid. But you can laugh when it does stupid things.

Whatever happened to the "NO CALL" lists.

I signed up 20 times

Knowing that it's fake is step #2. Not answering phone calls from unknown/spoofed numbers is step #1.

We've been getting the fake social security,Medicare,Amazon and apple calls...all fishing for info. I hang up but hubby makes them give their bs until they hang up. Oh,I forgot the car warranty ones as well. So much for the no call list.

If you order from Amazon, apparently some working in fulillment leak the details to scammers.

Yeah, THAT sure does explain why people who have NEVER had an Amazon account get the same calls.

Or similar for Facebook (I get hit almost daily on an address NEVER used for FB, and the account I HAD there is long closed).

AND so on, and so forth..

Just got a call from an Indian. Very strong accent. I could barely understand him. I thought he was pushing health insurance on me. I said, "Before you go any further, I have health insurance from the military. All free healthcare."

Then he said, "No. Not healthcare. Funeral expenses."

..lol....I told him to have a good day.

WORST one I've seen is the email asking if you want to unsubscribe, but IF you reply, your email is sent to up to one hundred or more people.
