"For you, I have incredible news from here at Amazon, I tell you, and for this you should act now because what I have, my friend, is selling like red hot pancakes, I tell you!" |

How do youse guyses think mine and others info got to them? Similar thing happened to me. Call coming in with heavy accented man, was from a town a couple hours away. When I rudely hung up on him, I called the number. It was a guy in that town who just got a new phone the day before. Scammers. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79649143 United States 03/12/2021 06:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In most cases they just use random numbers. toss out MicroSoft, Apple, Dish Network, Amazon and hope the random call connects to a person who has one of these. Then the scam comes, after some info, birth date, SSN, CC# or something of value. Bottom Line - if the caller is Indian - 99% sure a scam. |

Quoting: Butch DeFeo How the hell do we get it to STOP? :SWIFTHARD: Put Trump and the Republicans back in office. The scam calls here restarted after The Dems moved into office. Pretty obvious to me they do not care about anyone who will not fill their palms with green paper. I exist. |

I don’t want flowers when I die… User ID: 73134317 United States 03/12/2021 06:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The other day I got a call from the “IRS”, already knew it was a scam call and unfortunately for them that day I wasn’t in a good mood... well, the “officer” started talking with that funny Hindu accent telling me I need to pay some penalties, I laughed and said, “Really? Why don’t you go fuck a cow!” and hung up the phone. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79925850 United States 03/12/2021 07:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just got a call from an Indian. Very strong accent. I could barely understand him. I thought he was pushing health insurance on me. I said, "Before you go any further, I have health insurance from the military. All free healthcare." Quoting: nutmeg Then he said, "No. Not healthcare. Funeral expenses." ..lol....I told him to have a good day. Oh, they get nasty... vulgar... it's awful. These are call centers in Indonesia and Pakistan. India is a hot spot for scam call centers. So is suburban Maryland. Plenty of subhumans. |

User ID: 79703438 United States 03/12/2021 07:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most of us here are smart enough to know better, like I did, but there is a scam going wherein you'll get a call from "Amazon" saying there's a large charge and they want it verified or you can talk to someone. The charge for me was $1,400 and I sure as hell wanted to talk to someone. Quoting: cosmicgypsy After purportedly getting my Amazon account up, he said something about getting my SS#, he wanted to know how much money was in my bank account.... I gave that guy the run around for about 15 minutes until he finally hung up on me. I did call my bank afterwards and there was no pending transactions, so....yeah. Also, the phone number was a local phone number....heh, I did not know Amazon had a business here in my little town.... At any rate, this is just a heads up to beware of phone calls from Amazon.... Got a text from a spoof phone number that my $192.00 transaction was going through my VENMO account - only problem - I have no VENMO account - get these for Paypal now and again. Clue is it's from a phone number and not a five digit text account pj77777 "The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained." --George Washington, First Inaugural Address, 1789 |

Quoting: cosmicgypsy It seems like someone at Amazon or who used to work for Amazon is selling the info. How do youse guyses think mine and others info got to them? They just call random numbers until someone bites. My closest friend was getting these calls and she never uses Amazon so she immediately knew it was a scam. Scammers just go for the big names because they know MANY people use those retailers and sites. Glad you nipped it quick. Anonymous Coward User ID: 80063006 United States 03/12/2021 07:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I purposefully got a phone number with the area code from two towns over. I know no one in that area code. All calls from that area code are 100% scammers spoofing that area code. Because the scammers know that You are more likely to answer a call from a local number thinking it might be someone you need to talk to. So on my phone all numbers from that area code are auto blocked. |

They said there was some legal trouble on one of my accounts and that if they did not hear from me they would proceed legally. When I called back it was the IRS in India from a DC number. I have it if you guys need it. It’s a complete scam |

I shut that shit down. We're talking a 40K scam that was this close to being irreversible. As soon as the 80 year old guy said gift cards that was the tip off. I said you were being scammed. I swear I ran into the 80 year old guy while he was in route to drop off the 40K. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79646370 You were on a mission from God. |
