When I quit I was smoking 3 packs a day and buying Marlboros by the carton @ $10 per carton. I can't imagine what I'd be laying out a week for smokes if I hadn't quit. (if I'd have lived of course) Back when I started most of America smoked. Today at least you'll have plenty of company. |

Woke up one day and never smoked again last Oct. They said they just did not feel like doing smoking any longer. Like a switch went off. There was no desire or addiction any more. No urge to do it. Was there some neurological receptors or something that flipped a switch to another direction. That part that makes you addicted? And this person tried to quit dozens of times all types or ways. Just to wake up one day and it was over is pretty cool see and try to understand. But we are all glad and can even see the better health. |

One day I just woke up and was done with it. Just never think again about what made you feel good about smoking... I am currently off the darts as well but am vaping which helps the cravings but still there is a lingering feeling I should maybe just grab one more pouch of tobacco for good old times. Edit, for the last 24 years. I'm 39 now. Last Edited by neo81xxx on 02/12/2021 07:26 AM |

I really do. I'm going to make it this time. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29742785 Can't believe it. After 17 years I've finally had a real breakout. I just got sick of it and made a new year's resolution. And I really meant it. After 17 years I'm still trying to figure out why I started. 10 years and counting. Don't even catch cold or get phlegm anymore. |

By April you won't think about having one...until you had a couple of beers. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79635880 United States 02/12/2021 08:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You have to really want it. Do not let the habit win. You will be tested. It will sick. The cravings will never go away. You will only be able to manage them better. Cigarettes did that to me and I can never go back. I keep that hatred as fuel to never go back. When I have cravings, I look at myself from a third person point of view... I say this is what cravings look like. I am experiencing it because I am quitting. It is a good thing. That usually snaps me out of it. A weak heart will not be successful. Stay strong. You might cheat and it will make you feel like shit. You will want to vomit. Remember that feeling the next time you want to cheat. |

I promise. You will lose the desire I even drink now and have no desire. If you do have a rabid desire, chew some nic gum and get over it. The real goal is your lungs. |

User ID: 14791461 Australia 02/12/2021 08:34 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Australian cigarettes are 12.5 percent more expensive following a price hike on Sept. 1. Successive tax hikes from April 2010 have made Australian cigarettes among the most expensive in the world. Following the most recent increase, a 25-stick pack of Marlboro Gold cigarettes now costs AUD48.50 ($35.63) while the average 20-pack costs around AUD35. That means a pack-a-day smoker will spend AUD12,500 over the course of a year." [link to tobaccoreporter.com (secure)] |

At the end I was smoking almost 3 packs a day. Life is so much easier now that I’ve quit. It’s nice to not have to deal with it anymore. You got this OP. Good luck! Floridian. Christian, Father, Hard worker and a millenial. Fuck Big Pharma! Don’t be a pussy, if you leave red at least leave your name. I can’t guarantee I’ll be alive come this time next year… |
