I fail to understand how the Chinese refusing to buy our agricultural exports would ‘bankrupt’ farmers. Heavy agri exporting to China is a recent phenomenon. Prior to a few decades ago, they were hardly a blip on a spreadsheet, and farmers had plenty of customers. While I understand that China presents a huge opportunity of NEW customers, the old customers never went anywhere.

China is trying to starve the farmers as well as it's needy citizens. When our farmers go broke they and gates can then buy the farms at auction prices. It's called monetary warfare. When they own the farms they can either shut them down or ship the grains for free to China. And get it citizens shipped there to farm. More than likely the military sort.

It's war on the US meant to destroy the economy and food supplies. We can do more than retaliate.

Am involved in transport, farm chemicals are starting to move here soon and then it will move all throughout the midwest.

I get to have a fair number of conversations with actual family owned farms, (usually the owner's or a Son, Daughter, etc) everything I've been told, profits are finally being made instead of a steady stream of break even years.

I've no idea what will happen this fall when I talk with them, but so far I've heard nothing but happiness, for the last 3 plus years.

I think it was Jeff Bazos who wants to invest in mining asteroids. It's supposed to be the next upcoming technology

Actually - do you know the rates to get a container from China now? It used to be a rate of $2200 from China to us port. By rejecting containers, they have tripled the price for US to get containers to China to pick up things such as Glass for Wine bottles, and now Aluminum cans (because US is over capacity at the plants for Ball and Crown - meaning all cans in excess have to be bought from S. Korea or China or Egypt)
They are effectively playing a chess game here. Don't accept ships/containers. And when US needs goods the containers cost 3X more at $9000 a container! Now put this into perspective. You buy glass bottles - 750ml 12pk box. You can only fit 16 pallets (112cases per pallet)on a truck. the glass cost $5.00 case. You have 1792 cases of glass bottles. take $9000 divide by 1792cs that is $5.13 per case added to the price of glass. Now each case of glass costs the US. $10.13. Where as previously 1752 cases divide by old shipping costs it was $1.14 per case. Ok Glass was sold at $6.14 case.

You see this. That is just $3.99 more for a case of glass bottles (with no wine in it). Now that increase effects your Wine Price. Your bottle wine that was $7.99 increased to $10.00 a bottle. Hits the USA working person at their wallet.
Now mulitply 70 containers a month for wine large winery Freight is a total of $630,000. your cost of goods was $613.000 your freight cost more than your goods!!!

I tried to break this down to show you how dramatic the pricing is going to change for goods in the USA.
Wine was a prime example. But imagine on a larger scale? all goods are getting charged $9000 in freight costs!
