The lawyers representing the US asked for permission to appeal this decision, they have 14 days to formally make this appeal. They cannot just free him on day 1 of this decision as he could just skip bail prior to the appeal hearing and he previously skipped bail (Ecuador Embassy) when the Swedish prosecutors wanted to extradite him. So the bail hearing on Wednesday will decide if he should be free, most likely with restrictions (see my previous post - living at a specified address, reporting to police station everyday, maybe even electronic tag), until the appeals run their course. I am not a lawyer but have a degree in law and read most court judgments... The above is the most likely outcome I think. I could be wrong of course. |
