Re: The Real History of Slavery
Nice try.

Advantages based on race is a fact in America.

There's not one person who'll deny this unless they're beneficiaries of systemic injustice which has persisted for centuries.

It starts with education, economics, and then the exploitation of the working class for divisions based on the articial construct of "race".

You're at an advantage or disadvantage from the day you were born.

Based on a few common factors.

All of which are woven within our institutions.

Yes, hard work pays off, but so does corruption.

You have to be able to adapt regardless, but still, you can be average and white with a better chance of increased earning potential than someone who's classified as a minority with those same attributes.

If this was 1920 or 1820 I would agree with you but times have changed. Since the late 1960's we have had school integration, racial hiring quotas, race-based promotions and advancement, grade curving for college entry, programs that keep kids in school even after committing serious crimes (like the parkland shooter) and more. Many of these are mandates either government or corporate and failure to follow is penalized.

After 50 years of affirmative action I feel the playing field has been leveled though I'm sure you and many others would disagree, that;s life. Has it affected me personally? No, but I know of several who have. grade curving hurts minority kids by entering them in subjects they are not prepared for; the hard sciences. This leads to them failing which is even worse than being denied entry.

As a gross generality Black people tend to act more as a group than Whites who are concerned with individuality. They also have organizations like the NAACP who have powerful lobbies. Whites have become the disposable group with no representation as doing so labels one a racist. God forbid we are accused of that! At any rate it's time to go back to the merit-based system that works so well for the free market and helps to free everyone by improving the economy.

Ideas like reparations and "ending systemic racism" are unsolvable issues with no clear problems or solutions. Only by true equality under the law can we avoid a game of moving the goalposts forever and ever. My suggestion is we have bigger problems coming tomorrow than anything from the past that will affect us. The sole thing I think that can be fairly called institutional racism is the drug laws and sentencing guidelines that came back in the 1990's. I know they have drastically affected urban populations and led to increased crime and destroyed families. Those laws need to be struck down and those sentenced under them who have not been convicted of a violent crime need to be pardoned. The other big issue affecting Black Americans is illegal immigration which steals jobs, raises rents and competes with them in many other ways. We have 20 million Mexicans living here that need to go back home.

You are correct that the top 0.01 percent have gamed the system for their own benefit and those on the bottom rungs must work much harder for what little they can gain. The wealth differential is obscene in that regard.
That's my 2 cents on the matter. Thanks for reading.

Europeans ended slavery!

A video by Thomas Sowell provides an in-depth discussion of slavery from 1600's on. Showing how it was not a European invention and how it was Europe that led the movement to abolish it. There were no easy choices for men like Washington, Jefferson or Lincoln because what could you do with 4 million newly freed slaves, many of whom owned no land, had few skills and bore ill will towards their former masters?.

Essential for your understanding in this time where US blacks feel entitled as the sole victims of slavery when in fact it has been all of humanity.

Re: The Real History of Slavery
Another straw man...

Nobody is claiming to have been a slave or sole ownership of slavery...

The conversation continues NOT to be had because oppositional whites refuse to have the conversation about race in America, and acknowledge the black community’s disadvantages stem from systemic oppression in a system that was made for whites by whites.

The system can be made better we have done it before.

This does not undo America anymore than woman’s rights, or abolition.

Deflecting the conversation with topics like the OP, saying things like “golly gee did you know the first slave owner in America was black?”, all of this is a continued refusal to actually have substantive discussion on race in America, and continues to refuse acknowledging the role of white Americans in slavery and post slavery eras, as they continue to dogwhistle white supremacy rhetoric devoid of intermission.

Personal racism will never be eradicated, but systemic racism that remains from a bygone era can and should be corrected following an open honest dialogue about race in America including everyone.

Of course, anyone has the right to feel how they want to feel and always will.

Instead of being a part of the solution it seems many would rather obfuscate and clutch to old ways. It’s a shame because the kids are watching and we should be striving to set the best example we possibly can for them - all kids.

Of course all lives matter, including black lives, this is why the discussion is needed. Continuing to refuse to have the conversation leads us right back to where we already are which nobody wants.

Don’t you think it’s time to evolve and work together against the class warfare agitators and their masters?

yeah, but too bad there are too many racist blacks in this
world. iv'e seen the hatred in their eyes. i grew up in
the south. don't give that bs that they deserve to be so
hateful. the same hateful black people call this guy,
in the video, "uncle tom". that guy in the video remembers
the racism of the 50's and 60's. he knows something
about racism.

Re: The Real History of Slavery
I have some books from the 1800s about the peoples of the world, their customs, habits and religions.

Slavery had been rampant all over the world. Most native American tribes had slaves.

Lots of black Africans were enslaved by Arabs and other black Africans, and there were European Christian missionaries who devoted themselves to stopping it, and rescuing those enslaved.

People seem to want to believe slavery only existed in America, and that the slaves here were beaten and tortured regularly, when in fact many were loved and treated very well. Many owners taught slaves how to read and write, and were humane towards them. White Americans treated their slaves a heck of a lot better than others around the world treated their slaves.

However people don't care about facts, they only believe whatever suits their agenda.
 Quoting: Peepaws

In many households, the slaves were regarded as family. So much, that after the emancipation proclamation, they stayed on as share croppers, or paid servants.

Only difference was -- they could leave at any time, and now they had to pay rent & living expenses from their earnings.

That said, I will not deny there were some horrible slave owners. Like that sadistic bitch in the French Quarter whose house still creeps the hell out of everyone. She was so awful, she was taken to task by the authorities in NOLA, and had to flee to France.
 Quoting: Lady Jayne Smith

I had never heard of that story so I looked it up, that must have been Delphine LaLaurie. That really was awful.

So New Orleans had laws regarding humane treatment of slaves, and it sounds like residents kept an eye out on the treatment of neighbor's slaves. There were rumors in the community that bad things were happening to her's.. She kept those ones in the upper room well hidden.

So after that fire, and the discovery of that upper room, it is said the local residents stormed her house and totally demolished the place as they were outraged.

It's too bad they didn't get her, it sounds like she made it safely back to France, where it is said she died in a boar hunting accident.

She was absolutely unrepentant and highly resented having to leave New Orleans.

The most inconvenient truth about the buying and selling of black humans is that it was African blacks and Muslims who were selling captured African blacks into slavery.

And, it's still happening today.
 Quoting: An Average American Patriot

That's because slavery is not the real issue.

Slavery-guilting/ne groes is just another weapon used by a small, predatory ethnic group in its genocide of the White race.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77784949

The whole reparations thing is a mass theft plan.

They are telling the black people they will get reparations money, the plan is to confiscate white assets and then kill them.

They have no intention of giving that money to blacks, and when blacks start to complain about it and ask where their reparations money promised to them is, they will turn against them and get rid of them too.
