Re: The Real History of Slavery
Another straw man...

Nobody is claiming to have been a slave or sole ownership of slavery...

The conversation continues NOT to be had because oppositional whites refuse to have the conversation about race in America, and acknowledge the black community’s disadvantages stem from systemic oppression in a system that was made for whites by whites.

The system can be made better we have done it before.

This does not undo America anymore than woman’s rights, or abolition.

Deflecting the conversation with topics like the OP, saying things like “golly gee did you know the first slave owner in America was black?”, all of this is a continued refusal to actually have substantive discussion on race in America, and continues to refuse acknowledging the role of white Americans in slavery and post slavery eras, as they continue to dogwhistle white supremacy rhetoric devoid of intermission.

Personal racism will never be eradicated, but systemic racism that remains from a bygone era can and should be corrected following an open honest dialogue about race in America including everyone.

Of course, anyone has the right to feel how they want to feel and always will.

Instead of being a part of the solution it seems many would rather obfuscate and clutch to old ways. It’s a shame because the kids are watching and we should be striving to set the best example we possibly can for them - all kids.

Of course all lives matter, including black lives, this is why the discussion is needed. Continuing to refuse to have the conversation leads us right back to where we already are which nobody wants.

Don’t you think it’s time to evolve and work together against the class warfare agitators and their masters?

You must not understand the meaning of a strawman argument, the logical fallacy.

OP is saying every ethnicity has been slaves and you're saying he's moving the goalpost....

Re: The Real History of Slavery
I am usually not a big fan of wiki, but this article gives a good, and well sourced, history of slavery throughout recorded human history. No peoples, anywhere, have not been enslaved at one time, or another, probably since the dawn of humanity.

[link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

"Evidence of slavery predates written records, and has existed in many cultures.[15] Mass slavery requires economic surpluses and a high population density to be viable. Due to these factors, the practice of slavery would have only proliferated after the invention of agriculture during the Neolithic Revolution, about 11,000 years ago.[16]

Slavery was known in civilizations as old as Sumer, as well as in almost every other ancient civilization, including ancient Egypt, ancient China, the Akkadian Empire, Assyria, Babylonia, ancient Iran, ancient Greece, ancient India, the Roman Empire, the Arab Islamic Caliphate and Sultanate, Nubia and the pre-Columbian civilizations of the Americas.[17] Such institutions were a mixture of debt-slavery, punishment for crime, the enslavement of prisoners of war, child abandonment, and the birth of slave children to slaves.[18]"

I have some books from the 1800s about the peoples of the world, their customs, habits and religions.

Slavery had been rampant all over the world. Most native American tribes had slaves.

Lots of black Africans were enslaved by Arabs and other black Africans, and there were European Christian missionaries who devoted themselves to stopping it, and rescuing those enslaved.

People seem to want to believe slavery only existed in America, and that the slaves here were beaten and tortured regularly, when in fact many were loved and treated very well. Many owners taught slaves how to read and write, and were humane towards them. White Americans treated their slaves a heck of a lot better than others around the world treated their slaves.

However people don't care about facts, they only believe whatever suits their agenda.

I grew up in the 1960's and I could describe numerous examples of "systemic racism" from that era. Over the next two decades, not only were the barriers many black people faced in the US removed, but blacks in particular and other minorities in general were given distinct advantages in education, employment, financial assistance and more. Since candidates for public office discovered that pandering to minorities by promising them more and more freebies at the taxpayer's expense was an easy path to election, the entitlements continue to mount.

If your argument is that black people today still are at a disadvantage because of "systemic racism" from bygone eras, explain how.

Give me one example of any law, regulation or policy of any federal, state or local government or agency or get the fuck out.
 Quoting: OICU812

They are more likely to come into contact with a police officer because they are far more likely to commit crime.

As for being more likely to get "murdered" by the police. Bullshit.

2018 breakdown of the 995 people shot and killed by the police.

403 were white, 210 were black, 148 were Hispanic, 38 were classified as other, and 199 were classified as unknown.

Out of that 995, 47 were unarmed — 23 were white, 17 were black, 5 were Hispanic, and 2 were unknown.

Out of the 30-50 million interactions that the police had with the American public last year, 10 million people were arrested, and less than 0.01 percent were shot and killed by the police. Out of those 10 million people arrested, 47 of those shot and killed were unarmed, which equates to 0.00047 percent, 17 of which were black.

In many households, the slaves were regarded as family. So much, that after the emancipation proclamation, they stayed on as share croppers, or paid servants.

Only difference was -- they could leave at any time, and now they had to pay rent & living expenses from their earnings.

That said, I will not deny there were some horrible slave owners. Like that sadistic bitch in the French Quarter whose house still creeps the hell out of everyone. She was so awful, she was taken to task by the authorities in NOLA, and had to flee to France.

Never in world history has one race been raised up so fast and so high as has the ne gro race been raised up by the White race in the United States.

They, in the long run, have benefited greatly from slavery and White people have suffered greatly because of that slavery. If not for that they would all, today, be living in some west African shit-hole country.

Imagine where a White U.S. could be today if we had not had to drag those anchors behind us.

That's a crock of shit.

This discussion has been occurring on a daily fucking basis in this country for almost 200 years.

Blacks continue to refuse to take personal responsibility for themselves and have created self perpetuating mess of victimhood and self pity.

Systemic racism is a lie proven over and over again by the actions and deeds of her people and by the course of America herself.

What a crock of shit.
Racism does not equate to slavery.
Racism is about not liking or hating someone becuase they are not like you.
It is found all over the world. In mixed communities as well as single race communities.
There will always be some reason why someone doesn't like someone else. Different skin tone, hair color, size, etc...
Stop making it more then it is, a reason to not like you because I think you get special treatment.
Familiarity breeds contempt.

I came into this world fighting screaming and covered in someone else's blood. I have no problem going out the same way.

For starters, maybe you should start by looking at yourself in the mirror and acknowledge that if you're being pulled over, searched and apparently harassed more often than others, it might actually have to do with the numerous criminal actions amongst your people that eventually lead many others, not just whites, but every other races too, to unfortunately sometimes wrongly profile some of you.

You can surely understand that in a cop's 20 year career, if 40% of all violent crimes he's called upon to interfere, are being committed by blacks, then conditioning eventually sets in to perceive a high percentage of blacks as potential problems. It's unfortunate but it's human nature to profile and associate others based on experience.

In today's world, there's a lot more systemic racism towards whites from all other races than the other way around. It's not even close but no one can help you see what you're incapable or unwilling to see....

Black people pay taxes too. Being statistically more likely to be pulled over, get unlawfully searched, get murdered, get harassed by tax paid for law enforcement is one example. Another poster listed many others. Here’s the data [link to openpolicing.stanford.edu (secure)]

What will it take for us to move forward as a nation in your eyes?

Seems you Canadians have a lot of opinions about US politics... looked at your fucked-up nation lately? Yes, statistically black individuals are more likely to end up in the legal system. That's because they commit way more violent crimes than non-blacks. What the fuck does that prove? Is it "systemic racism" or a culture issue in black communities????? If you can't deduce the answer to that one, then you're likely a liberal...
Or stupid Canuk
Or both.

Watch the video then let's discuss it. Claims about systemic and structural racism are disguised demands for advantages based solely on race. We've already been there, thanks.

Nice try.

Advantages based on race is a fact in America.

There's not one person who'll deny this unless they're beneficiaries of systemic injustice which has persisted for centuries.

It starts with education, economics, and then the exploitation of the working class for divisions based on the articial construct of "race".

You're at an advantage or disadvantage from the day you were born.

Based on a few common factors.

All of which are woven within our institutions.

Yes, hard work pays off, but so does corruption.

You have to be able to adapt regardless, but still, you can be average and white with a better chance of increased earning potential than someone who's classified as a minority with those same attributes.

Re: The Real History of Slavery
Well slavery is still happening in Africa, so no history lesson needed there, but keep digging over a hundred years in the past in the west I am sure some outrage can still be mustered how people can become property so long ago, but systemic slavery is still going on in the motherland but no marches how their black lives matters, that African Americans can still identify with a continent as their first identifier as a group that still has systemic slavery and trades Africans as property, so they undermine their cause, until they drop the divider identifier and call themselves just Americans and leave the past and present behind that still going on to do with slavery...black (African)slavery matters.....5aburnitrant
