Hell Yeah! Senate votes to reverse FCC order and restore net neutrality | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76517537 United States 05/16/2018 10:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Senate today voted 52-47 to disapprove the FCC’s recent order replacing 2015’s net neutrality rules, a pleasant surprise for internet advocates and consumers throughout the country. Although the disapproval will almost certainly not lead to the new rules being undone, it is a powerful statement of solidarity with a constituency activated against this deeply unpopular order. It will have to go through the House and after that if it some how passes the House, Trump has to agree and sign it. Trump can just throw it away if he feels like it. Not to mention that republicans holds a large majority in the house, so this won't go through. Just putting it out there. |

Dont like some shadey shit that ya ISP pulled (like the rat bastards Im stuck with for now)?? Well, fuck em, use somebody else.. They start raising ya prices sky high? Then some new guy will jump in offer better service at a lower price. You stupid ass obummer bots havent been ALIVE long enough to know what a truly neutral internet IS.. What I just wrote above is EXACTLY HOW the internet was back in the dial up days (go ask that stupid alexa what dial up is numbnuts). Want REAL net freedom? Get RID of government enforced monopolies and make the the cable providers (the largest ISPs) HAVE to compete with each other to see which one can provide better service in order to get your hard earned dollars! That sort of radical idea USED to be called normal in my day. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76492414 United States 05/16/2018 11:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Net Neutrality in a Nutshell Corporate Lobbyists control the government as everyone knows. 1) Some Corporations were being stomped on by other Corporations so the corporate lobbyists went to their politicians to curb the power of the bigger monopolies, hence, Net Neutrality. Consumers as an unintended consequence benefited from Net Neutrality because it took away power from the bigger monopolies and encouraged free market competition. 3) The big monopolies fought back and killed Net Neutrality. 4) Now we are at round 3. Take a look at how much those for and against Net Neutrality give to their puppet politicians and you will see it is Corporations against Corporations with their puppet politicians as the middle men. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76492414 United States 05/16/2018 11:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well lets see, Netflix wanted to use more bandwidth without paying more, it seems they wanted preference over other websites without paying for it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42079668 Seems like a pretty liberal policy to enforce private companies to charge the same no matter how much bandwidth a company is using. BS All business and consumers pay for higher speed and bandwidth packages already. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76492414 United States 05/16/2018 11:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Net Neutrality came about when people wanted to use face time apps and other high intensity bandwidth uses over wireless internet. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42079668 Imagine if netflix were a trucking company, and they wanted the exclusive use of the highway system to deliver their goods. That's what's happening here, higher bandwidth services such as streaming, chatting in real time, etc demanded higher network services. They should be charged more. People don't realize what's involved in sharing their stupid conversations over the internet. Your points don't actually make sense. Your analogy with a trucking company is quite uneducated to be honest. Within that example netflix with be using the roads paid for by taxes (ISP subscription charges for the Internet and Taxes for actual roads) but they would then be required to pay a surcharge to use the road alongside of you to deliver the packages you want to you. Big difference is that the roads cost a lot of money, extra bandwidth is pretty cheap and generally doesn't require much extra hardware where we are now. And keep in mind that the actual bandwidth (The actual roads of the internet) Have long been subsidized by the government and your tax payer money. The ISPs are just milking every dollar out of their monopolies. Sorry I felt I needed to use a very small brained analogy to break it down for you. Anyone who supports net "neutrality" ( a misleading name by the way ) supports the full government control of the internet. Bottom line. That is what will lead to internet being like television. It's been proven time and time again government control makes things worse, not better. Net neutrality gives the government the power to regulate and with it, it's only a matter of time before the internet in fact becomes not free, and websites like this will disappear. As far as bandwidth you aren't going to argue that more demand on the network puts more stress and requires more power, more maintenance, etc. You simply can't deny that. So companies as well as people who want "fair internet" don't realize the costs involved in what they want. Lets be honest, mostly folks who support net neutrality are concerned with their download speeds being slowed, because they are downloading tons of media, illegally. The only other people supporting this lunacy would be brainwashed liberals. Which one are you? Since you are so free market, are you for free markets in the housing market? I should be able buy a plot of land in a rich neighborhood and build a tin shack as I please thus lowering prices for everyone. People really are hypocrites when it comes to free market principles. They want controlled markets to prop up housing prices for them and free markets to lower costs for them. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76492414 United States 05/16/2018 11:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | But they don't. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42079668 And they won't. Because business owners aren't some greedy evil folks, and the government isn't here to save you from them. Get rid of zoning laws, regulations, ordinances, fees, house flippers, foreign buyers, illegals and taxes and housing prices would drop. Free Markets all the way baby! |
