They Really Have a Lot of Balls Calling It "Healthcare"....

Yup, I got a $6500 bill for an ER visit that was a scalp cut that needed 7 staples to close.

Urgent care clinics were closed, but they probably would have made me go to the ER anyway

When my daughter was born in 2004 we received a bill for $105K, of which the insurance company was listed as covering $6K and the balance somehow disappeared. I asked an RN friend of mine who was working as an administrator in a central Jersey hospital what was up. I was told that these bills are inflated to the point of ridiculousness because after the insurance company pays what they do, the balances are then totaled and presented as outstanding balances. Hospitals are then able to go to their local and state politicians and make the case that they are losing money and that they cannot continue to operate at such losses and wouldn't it be a shame to have it happen in your district. The political sellouts then channel subsidies to the squeaky wheels. Gotta love it!

Then there was the case many years ago that I recall from either New York City or some other large city near there. A 750 pound, bed ridden Welfare recipient had to be removed from his apartment and of course, could not fit through the doors. A gaping hole had to be created in the outside wall to the street and he was on like the 3rd or 4th floor and had to be removed from the building with a crane.

Now I am not saying that this fellow was not special enough to deserve such treatment at the public expense or not, but seriously, what was the point? Besides the money made by everyone in the system, including the reconstruction crew. Who is calling these shots and why are there so many regular families and individuals that get nothing from the system at all?

Too much regulation.

Most primary care docs are told to be "traffic directors" by the hospital management. It's impossible to run your own private clinic.

I know one doctor who has two clinics and he had to shut down one due to no patients. He is struggling to keep the last clinic open.

The government and the drones are spreading propaganda about the opioid crisis. Pain patients have to visit a special clinic that charges extreme amounts for care.

Tell me how a pain patient is able to pay the fees?

Where is the outrage regarding 99% of the population on antidepressants and diabetes medication?

To many laws

No freedoms

Once you realize that "laws" are only effective for controlling people who have respect for them and that criminals have NO respect for laws or they would not be criminals, all you are left with is a Welfare System for lawyers. When you consider the cost difference between supporting the indigents on Welfare or the lawyers with Lawfare, the poor are a serious bargain. Shakespeare was right.

Allopahtic "medicine" is a total witches brew and no sane person will use it.

thats what bankruptcy is for - Its the new "emergency entrance" for uninsured people lol

Sometimes it is the only way out, but there is a lot of theft and loss involved for those who take that route.

'Health Care' should be happening a LONG time before
one gets sick.

Fact: medicines in American only have to be more effective than sugar pills. They do not have to work even 50% of the time. They don't have to work for most people.

Fact: safety tests on medicines are only conducted for about six months even though people might take the medicine for decades or the rest of their life.

Fact: the government does not actually do the testing. That is left to the pharmaceutical corporations who are as governed by the profit motive as the tobacco industry is or the automobile industry was before "Unsafe at any Speed".

Bottom line: we have not really progressed much at all from the days of "patent medicine" or "snake oil".


Medicines sold in the US are neither effective nor safe.

The government tried to make health care "affordable" "available" and or "free", by numerous means including and especially Medicare and Medicaid. That meant tons of tax money shoveled in the direction of the medical industry. The government threw the corpse on the road and the buzzards came. You shouldn't expect anything different.
Remember that the next time you want the government to "do something" about something.

SINCE HOSPITALS THAT TAKE FEDERAL FUNDS (ALMOST ALL BY THE WAY) THEY MUST TAKE PATIENTS EVEN IF UNABLE TO PAY. a LARGE PORTION OF THE INFLATION IS BECAUSE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT DON'T PAY THEIR BILLS. BECAUSE OF THE GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION WE'VE HAD SOCIALIZED MEDICINE SINE THE 60'S.

one more thing. Insurance is for unplanned catastrophic events. There is no health insurance for sale in the USA.
One more. You can't pick what you want insurance for. I personally might choose to omit AIDS from my policy which would reduce the premium a bit. I might also omit cancer which would reduce the premium a lot. Insurance companies can't sell policies like that, it's illegal.

Amen! The Federal government ought to re-read the Constitution and remember that it's sole responsibilities should be to regulate interstate commerce, impose tariffs, and provide for the DEFENSE of the country, NOT Unending Aggressive Wars for Profit!

"Healthcare" turned from "cure" into "treatment"...as in long-term profit-generating treatment.

I do believe that the fact that so many doctors have changed from operating private practice to now working for some kind of "Health Profit" Corporation is all we need to know about how fucking corrupt the whole damned thing has become.
