Be Respectful!

Avoid personal attacks. Posts will be removed if you call another poster names, insult their intelligence, jump to wild speculations about their motives or character, or otherwise treat them with disrespect. Disagreeing with someone is fine. Calling them an idiot before you list your counter position or wildly stereotyping them based on a single comment is not.

Focus on the Author/Book

Always try to make the discussion be about the author and book we are discussing. Try to phrase things like, "I agree with the author when he says…" Or "I disagree with his position that….". You are always welcome to briefly explain why and I welcome discussion/banter on point/counterpoint, however, try to keep disagreements focused on the author's point and position. Another way of saying this is let's not go too far off topic. This book will discuss things that could take us WAY off topic. Focus on coming back to the book. As the moderator I will always attempt to keep us from straying too far away from the book and author's point.

Don't Beat a Dead Horse

Do not go back and forth with another poster saying essentially the same thing over and over. If you have no real new point there is no need to restate what you've already stated. This is not a place for "he who has the last word wins". If two or more people are going back and forth saying the same things over and over I reserve the right to remove posts to keep from beating a dead horse. This is also for the purpose of keeping the book discussing moving and not bogging down on philosophical differences we can never resolve in a forum thread.

Also, Amazon has this as an E-book for under 8 dollars. I am sure it works on ANY device if you get the Kindle App. I am using a tablet right now instead of my laptop and it works great. Link below

I have that book. The guy is an agent. Check out Dave Eager of Out of Darkness, Into the Light

During the book discussion it will be a great time to make an argument for what the author is or isn't (and your opinion why) :)

When you say an agent, which alphabet agency does he work for?

BTW, there was another thread started discussing a book study so I expect some of those people to show up here just in case you are concerned this will be a book review by two.

Also, the kindle book has some pretty bad formatting issues if not viewed at the smallest font. It might look differently on different devices but the formatting (particularly of images) is not the greatest so play with font settings till you get what looks best for you.

As a means of enhancing/reinforcing my own beliefs, I would like to sit in as an observer.


There is much to discover, and learn from.

So I expected a bit more interest in this project than seems to be generated. If you are lurking out there reading the thread and intending to check out the discussion when it starts please let me know. For those interested in participating, please let me know you are here reading this thread. If those who want to participate are all here and want to start sooner than Friday we can do that. Or, if you think leaving the post up a few more days will draw in new interested parties then we can just stay on schedule.

Tomorrow I will be posting a new thread to start discussing the first section of the book Modern Esoteric by Brad Olsen. The first section is titled "Author's Karma Statement" and while small contains a ton of topics to begin discussing. At the moment I tend to make this thread be a sort of index /table of contents where the original post is constantly updated with links to the various section threads as we discuss them. That way you can always come back here to see where we are on the discussion.

I suspect some "drive by" traffic from people who read the thread and can't help but comment on it even though they are not reading the book. I want to allow some of that but the focus will always be on the book and those reading it. If drive by posters start making a big disruption over things that could have been resolved had they actually read the book, I reserve the right to start removing those posts. Again, the focus is on the book and those taking the time to read it. I will also remove posts that are offensive, abusive, or disrespectful. Lastly, I will attempt to limit beating a dead horse and remove posts if it offers no real new point of discussion.

Looking forward to the start of a fun discussion!
