Friday Night? That's horseshit and you know it For sure USAA runs maintenance Friday to Saturday frequently enough that I remember this. Which means I can't log in to my account online. Logging into an account online is very different from Chase ATM's and debit cards not working. |

I wish I had more time tonight to drive around to different ATM's to see what's going on. Anyone gone to a physical BofA ATM tonight? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 8612848 United States 05/14/2016 02:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most major american banks have opted (likely required by regs pushed by the biggest banks) to have all or part of their network infrastructure in certain data centers that have crazy redundancy. Its really a money maker pushed by the biggest bank (not fed reserve) because they have entered the data center business, and they make a fucking killing, because their customers are required to use their "certified" data centers. When maintenance happens, all hell breaks loose. Traffic is rolled to another path or the mirrored data center, but because the nature of these shitty networks, packets are dropped, duplicated, caught in IPS platforms and delayed. Half the time, they roll traffic to their redundant circuit only to find out the redundant protection circuit never worked, even though they have been paying for it for who knows the fuck how long. The banks act like ISP's now, and resell the $20k per month 100 gigabit pipe for $50-$60, and its all bullshit, because its just another tax wright-off. I know first hand, the people that maintain this shit are outsourced to Bangladesh and farmed out to bare minimum sub contractors. These engineers, techs and security guards at the data centers dont give a fuck, are paid minimum and are kicked out the door if they make even the smallest mistake, including mislabeling something. Moral of the story: Its all a scam, enjoy. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 70191275 United States 05/14/2016 02:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | While I'm not a fan of banks, im not sure there is a great alternative to storing large amounts of cash. If youre well to do, my guess is you have some money in a bank, plus other diversified assets such as real estate, metals, guns, etc. Most people with sizeable amounts of money just have to use a bank unless either you dont have a lot of money OR you stack bricks of cash in your house, under ground or in a secure vault storage locker. Either way dangers both ways. Diversification is all i can say. Large amounts of cash can get stolen wherever it is stored. |

But that was because I had less than $20 in the account. Covid Jab Experiment - I'm in the control group. User ID: 42946344 United States 05/14/2016 02:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well someone brought out the ban button on me for questioning BofA also going down. I know Chase is down, thats pretty obvious at this point. If another large bank does similar good luck everyone with no cash/PM's on them. The second another bank does this is when I am going to be clearing a store or two as fast as I can. |
