Wasn't Allowed to Early Vote for Trump Today in Texas! - They Said I Wasn't Registered But I've Been Registered for Years!

I went to the election office to vote for Trump today and the clerk said I wasn't in the system. I told her I had voted before and that my name was always on the roster before.

She called someone to check and they said I wasn't registered. I told her, "Well get me registered again so I can vote." She told me I wouldn't be able to vote until November and that I needed to be registered by February 1, 2016 to vote in the Primary.

I told them that didn't seem fair since I was already registered at one time and she and the manager wouldn't budge. I asked "Did you send anything out to let people know they needed to be registered by Feb. 1st or that they should check on their status?"

She told me the news did stories on it. I told her I didn't see anything on the news about it. I said, "What about people that don't watch the news? You should have sent a mailer/post card out."

The lady in charge didn't seem to care about my frustration and told me I could register now for November elections. I filled out my card and left feeling ripped off.

I looked up the Texas voting laws and you have to register 30 days before an election. If you get removed from the roster through some glitch you are pretty much screwed. [link to www.votetexas.gov]

I guess I should have thought something was up when I didn't receive a new voting card in the mail but I got a lot going on and it never occurred to me. In the past I would just take my driver's license and they would find me in the rolls and I voted. I'm 49 now and registered when I was in my 20's.

Really pissed about this. I hope this isn't happening widespread. Seems suspicious. Found this older article. [link to www.msnbc.com]
