Anonymous Coward User ID: 69181819 Australia 05/11/2015 01:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Tonight I was cooking something in the oven and had 5 more minutes to go on the clock. After I estimated that about 5 minutes had passed, I went back to the oven and the clock said 10 minutes had passed and my food was burnt. But there is no way 10 minutes had actually passed!!! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67380629 Then it dawned on me that five minutes for me is equivalent to 10 clock minutes, whereas for other people may get 20 minutes or even 30 minutes for every 10 minutes, that is why they can get so much more done in the same amount of time!! Does anyone know how I change this so I have more time? one day to me goes like 3 hours. I can't get anything done. Its a nightmare |

When it was 11:20 I left since the place is close to where I live. After going outside I noticed it was suddenly 12:00 pm. I wondered how this could have happened... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 58890856 Yep exactly. Time likes to play tricks on us. We all have a personal relationship with time which is how we experience and perceive it, it doesn't matter what the clock says. |

I kept watching the clock on my computer so I'm pretty certain it wasn't more than 11:20 when I left. When I'm outside the door it suddenly says 12:00 on my phone. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67380629 if we harness this ability we may be able to time travel, or even slow time right down so 5 minutes is a day. Then we could finally get everything done. I noticed if I keep checking the clock. I monitor it so it can't escape, then it seems to slow down a bit. But if I don't check it, it will start trying to speed up until the day is suddenly over. |

Hmmm...interesting, I don't pay a lot of attention to the clock or wear a watch so maybe that's why time is speeding up so quickly, because it knows I'm not watching?? I also like to astral travel and wonder if maybe that's where my time is going. Don't know how to time travel yet, but am open to learning if you figure it out. I would love to have a day for every 5 minutes to get all the shit done on my list, that would be awesome. |

I would love to have a day for every 5 minutes to get all the shit done on my list, that would be awesome. When I was a kid I remember 5 minutes was going for about 7 hours. I don't know why, but I was focused on imaginary things. I was on my bike doing a race like something out of fast and furious and so it went on for hours, but really it was just me on a bike for 5 minutes. Though in my mind so much was happening squashed into a tiny but of time. So if that is anything to go by, your mind has to somehow stretch time out by packing it with faster paced things than what is actually happening. So if you are cooking dinner, you do a bunch of smaller tasks to make it seem like 10 minutes is ages. like turn the tv off and on 10 times for no reason. counting to 10 quickly before each switch. Then you may go to your room and re-arrange of quickly clean it in someway. From keeping your mind active and packing lots of things into 10 minutes, I think it can stop the passing of time cause you are more alert of the moment, not letting it slip by. When time is going fast you are thinking of events that are too far away, like tomorrow or next week. You think about next month, or the next 5 hours at once. And this causes time to fly by faster. Just a bit of a theory on it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 69181819 Australia 05/11/2015 02:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | another interesting thing to note is that people close to death, report that time nearly stops at the critical moment of crisis. Like if they are hanging off a cliff, time slows right down as they try figure out what to do. So if you encounter a really tense critical moment, that may slow time down. So maybe somehow make every moment like life and death sort of situation, to make it go longer. Though I'm not sure how you would induce that without stress. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 67380629 United Kingdom 05/11/2015 02:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | another thing is when you are dreaming that can distort time. Cause I have had dreams where something has been going on for a week, but that's not possible when it's only 1 nights sleep. So it has something to do with your subconscious. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69181819 Maybe some of us stay in dreamland longer than others and that distorts some of the "time" in that 24 hour period, regardless of when you actually wake up. So your dreams might last about 15 hours which means you really only really have 9 hours spread across a 24 hour period. That's why everything seems so sped up. I do a lot of multi-tasking so I try to get a lot done in 5 minutes but maybe that's why time is flying by. |
