PRE-MATCH COMMENTS: Brazil, the hosts, now play the first knockout match of the tournament with the whole nation expecting nothing less than a win against their co-South Americans Chile. Expect a very tactical game today. Brazil coach Scholari actually told press that he "didn't want to meet Chile" because he knows their potential to go all the way. However; pundits have noticed that Brazil is improving their game as they progress and I can tell you that Brazil is a national team that relishes this kind "high pressure" encounter and the atmosphere in the stadium will more than likely bring the best out of the Samba boys!
As for Chile they have been making it clear since their very first match that they fear "nobody" in this World Cup!
The match Referee is Englishman Howard Webb who officiated the South Africa 2010 World Cup Final four years-ago.

FIRST HALF: Truly an electric atmosphere inside the Stadium for this clash of the South Americans as the match gets off to a frenetic pace!
Chile come closest first in the 10' minute with a bit of classy play at the Brazil goal end. Brazil immediately push forward to Chile's end claiming a penalty when a forward goes down in the Chilean penalty box. Referee Howard having NONE of it! However the first goal of the match soon arrives from hosts Brazil in the 18' minute with a David Luiz volley from off a Brazil corner kick. Play continues at a frenetic end-to-end pace as Chile refuse to take backseat with the equalizer coming in the 31' minute as Sanchez scores Chile's first. Brazil should have made it 2-1 in the 41' when an awesme Alves shot is deflected by Chile's goalkeeper over the bar.

SECOND HALF: Brazil take early initiative with a superb strike by inspirational midfielder Hulk's diagonal shot going in but disallowed by English referee Howard for what looked like handball. Close! Game takes a more "simmered" pace for the next twenty minutes with both teams playing a more passing game in the middle with fewer shots at goal than first half. A good run by Chilean forwards sees them nearly scoring their second in the 60' minute but Brazil's goalie makes yet another top-draw save to keep things level. After several moments of end to end play Brazil mount several attacks against Chile coming very close in the 74' and 78' minute. Burly midfielder Hulk misses another awesome shot from outside the box in the 82' minute. Things stay at 1-1 as ref blows full time whistle and match goes to extra-time.

EXTRA-TIME: Brazil starts in full power as lynchpin Hulk stands in front of the Samba fans to rouse more support for his team as he wins corner for Brazil. Good pace to game with Brazil looking the better side for a few moments during play, coming very close in the 101' minute and the 103' minute when Hulk shoots a blinder from outside Chile's box again. Second fifteen minutes played at an equally frenetic pace this time Chile looking the better side, creating several chances for themselves. Referee blows final whistle again as it goes down to the wire now with a penalty shoot-out...

PENALITIES: Chile miss three penalties giving it to Brazil as hosts win it 3-2.
