This "detection" website has NO STANDARDS. They allow any idiot to go and buy there 50-100 dollar piece of Chinese made plastic and say its a well built radiation detector. I bet 95% of the units they use for information are NEVER calibrated because people most certainly do not know how to do it.( if its even possible) I was reading through there forums and saw what they accept as a passable piece of equipment. It looks like something a 5th grader made in science class. Wake me up when this website starts to set standards that require people to use ACTUALLY FUNCTIONING PRODUCTS

Some of the locations reporting are EPA sites. Also, seeing several locations in a cluster giving high readings is concerning, especially to those of us who live within that area.

Radioactivity in richland Washington. ........
No you don't say. Obviously none of you are from washington.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1836765

I know, right. Hanford and the leaking tanks. It's on the Seattle news once a week, for a year now. They should have started to do something in the 70's. I've just been around GLP for like 4 years. But I'm surprise of the lack of Hanford threads. Sad how we (locals) just accept it. Remember all the huge nests of mud wasps that were all radioactive? Everyone was like, that's funny, when it came on the news.

This. Plus you 'bet' but you don't know. I am more than happy to believe a citizen taking the time to help monitor radiation and post so people are aware verses just taking the gov. word that everything is fine. I shelled out the cash to get a detector, learned to use it and check on a regular basis. What are you doing besides being negative on the thread? I wish I could 100% verify the readings for you. But I don't own the website nor am I located in those areas. And yes some locations are EPA sites as well. So please let those of us on this thread continue to alert people as you go enjoy your Thanksgiving. peace

I don't mean to derail your thread. But it's easy to say, 'oh, radiation is in the air, better stay inside'. But I still think people don't get how it does affect us and the earth and all that use it.

Anyone seen "Die Volke"? Cloud of radioactive DooM traveling around Germany after a nuclear Power Plant melted down. Don't stay out in the rain folk, or snow. Even if I'm not easily hyped into DooM, I still think the the US West Coast should acquire and calibrate Alpha and Beta dosimeters. Not quite sure what else there is to do. We had our EMERCOM nuclear fallout training too long ago.

(PS! If SHTF a good raincoat, some rubber fishing pants and rubber boots might come in handy as shelter from fallout. Along with a gas mask and gaffa tape.)

Limpan, it means that the Counts Per Second measured by a Geiger counter are around five times the alert level. Sverige seems safe for now.

Statistically speaking, the probability of the event in Southern California is p < .00002, i.e., there are about 2 chances in 10,000 that this is a fluke; there are 9,998 chances in 10,000 that this is a REAL EVENT.

Something has occurred there.

Earthquake?

Terrorist attack on nuclear facility?

Smuggling in a dirty bomb?

WHAT?

Fresno paper shows no news of interest to this event.

I forgot Seafood:
to stop it now is imo. childish and a typical Over-reaction,
stop it when you know it is polluted,
the Traces they found in the Tuna in 2012 do not justify such a radical Step.

But the People in the US need to check the Fish,
like we do hf

Here is what someone very "educated" has to say about eating seafood from the Pacific:

Interview with Dr. Charles Perrow, professor emeritus at Yale University and author of the award-winning book Normal Accidents: Living With High Risk Technologies, Nov. 11, 2013:

Q: Do you think it’s safe to eat seafood – salmon, tuna – from the Pacific? A: No. […] I haven’t stopped because I’m at an ancient age where before it could affect me, I will have died of other causes. So I haven’t stopped, but I recommend to my granddaughter who lives in Berkeley California that they be very cautious about the amount seafood from the Pacific that they consume.

They were all quite worried about it as well as their potential loss of livelihood. We are in the eye of the storm on the west coast and those who pretend it's not happening are foolish.

Tuna, salmon, crab and shrimp are the main seafoods I used to eat. I know in Japan you eat pretty much everything that moves under the water but that is not so common here. It's not just tuna and salmon. Starfish, sardines, and other marine life up and down our coast are experiencing weird symptoms and behavior. Seaweed on California beaches s radioactive now. That means everything is affected, not just migratory fish. Why the fuck would I eat it if I don't have to? Maybe if I just smile and be happy it won't hurt me.

How should I sample and measure seafood for radiation every time I want to eat it? Better to just avoid it. I occasionally eat Portuguese sardines to get some omega 3s and vitamin d but that's it.

Guess what, netc is all we've got because our government is doing fuck all. I have a small radiation detector that I will try out later today to see what's up since I'm smack dab in the middle of the radcon 4 and 5 alert area. I just need to find it ... It was packed up when we moved.

Large parts of docks have already been washing up on the Washington Coast for a year now. It makes a fast blip in the local news. In fact, not that long ago there was like 40 ft by 50ft section of something. The local government was so worried about non native sea life on it. They sealed off the area for days. Actually had men with blowtorches burn anything living off it. Thy dug up the dirt around it as well. But I don't remember what they did with the actual debris. I wish I had a link. Something similar happened on an Oregon beach about 10 months ago.
