Bees have been a big deal here especially in the rural areas. Just how bad is the fly problem in Northern Cali? Could it be a local problem? Flies are attracted to dead things. Could a dead animal be on your property? Government... Incredible amounts of lizards. I could start a lizard farm if anyone were interested in the boring little creatures. FL Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world. User ID: 40606358 United States 09/16/2013 01:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Actually here in Michigan it hasn't been that bad this year. Last year was pure hell with bugs crawling out of everywhere. Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars. I'd like to go quietly in my sleep, like grandpa did. Not screaming in terror like the people in the back seat of the car he was driving. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41777064 Saw a few wasps, a couple hornets. We have had bees up the yin yang here this summer. The heat and humidity had something to do with it I'm sure but the weather has changed in the past few days now and activity has decreased. It was really bad for about a week here as far as bees go. No joy for the flies here this year at least. Government... OP, just found this for FYI: Plants are one of the best ways to deter flies. Basil or Rue placed in pots outside the door will do a great job. It is also suggested that marigold will deter flies. Crushed mint has also been known to deter flies. Get some mint and crush it and sprinkle it around problem areas. Containers of essential oils. Get a small container and place a piece of cloth or sponge in it. Soak with an essential oil such as Lavender, Citronella, Eucalyptus or Pennyroyal. Close the lid and store for about a day. This will build up the scent in the container. Then place on tables or eating areas when you are entertaining. Sprays: Mix 1 cup of vinegar with 1 cup of water and add a few drops of any of these essential oils Lavender Citronella Eucalyptus Pennyroyal |
