[link to www.volcanodiscovery.com] Update Mon 25 Mar 08:17 The likelihood of a new submarine eruption in the near future is increasing. Earthquakes and pulsating strong tremor continued with little changes, indicators of magma intruding into new dikes in the western rift zone. There is also a trend towards stronger quakes (about 20 magnitude 3+ events including a M4 this morning) and shallower earthquakes (many at around 11-12 km depth today). This suggests that magma is slowly breaking pathways upwards, i.e. towards the seafloor. |

I live at La Palma and have view (with clear weather) to the North-west side of El Hierro, guess I´ll have to install a webcam :P Just kiddin´ nothing to see if it erupts at the oceanfloor again. |

This didn't mention how far inland that the water would come. |

Keep up the good work Nika “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. This should be pinned so we can all keep tabs on this situation. Quoting: ResistancePress OP can you explain for everyone (including myself) what could possibly happen if this erupted? It would be appreciated!! =) Thank you RP. Yes, from what I understand, these earthquakes are occurring right where El Hierro volcano is located. Research shows, should this volcano blow, the western slope could collapse into the ocean...sending huge walls of water (possibly as much as 200 ft waves) towards the East Coast of the United States. Umm...the scenario with that mega tsunami considers the volcano Cumbre Vieja located at La Palma. If this one blows it can cause the huge land slide and the tsunami. Current EQs happening at a different Island and another volcano |

Near the end it shows a bit about El Hierro, but if El Hierro blows it wouldnt cause that mega landslide since the island is much smaller than La Palma. Have you any information about the possible aftermaths of a erruption at El Hierro? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23900076 '5 As rock masses are constituted by a sequence of massive lava flows, scoriaceous and pyroclastic layers in uncertain proportions, it is expected that the equivalent Mohr-Coulomb parameters will correspond to intermediate values between the purely unweathered massive rocks and the purely pyroclastic massif. However, the relevance of the relative proportions between rock mass and pyroclastic, dramatically decreases when geologic conditions deteriorate. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23900076 'Concerning this fact, three areas of special relevance have been highlighted for their potential risk of catastrophic landslides in the Canary Archipelago. 'Teide Stratovolcano' (Tenerife), with average slope gradient of 30 degrees, 'El Julan ' (El Hierro), with average slope gradient of 25 degrees and the 'Cumbre Vjeja Rift Zone' (La Palma), with average slope gradient of 25 degrees........ ' cont.. 'All of them with slope heights higher than 1000m exhibit conditions of slope gradient that overcome the friction angle of their rock massifs and of low cohesion that became those areas as susceptible of suffering gigantic slides.
