User ID: 31784394 United Kingdom 03/25/2013 09:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Looks to be very active in the past few hours. Could someone please explain the increased activity and the possible consequnces? It is magma on the move that is causing a constant tremor, also known as harmonic tremors. When the magma finds a gap in the earth it will 'crack' it's way through and cause an earthquake. That will be the larger spikes you see on the graph. At the moment it is staying around a similar depth, this happened last time when it settled down and did nothing. If it finds a gap in the earth that allows it to reach ground zero then we will see a submarine eruption. We have seen the graphs like this before at similar depths, one produced an eruption and one just produced an eq swarm. There is no knowing what it will do at the moment unless the depths get shallower, if they get shallower then magma is finding it's way up. Last Edited by Wispa on 03/25/2013 09:22 AM |

Hi Wispa, It was only yesterday that I said that according to sources the sil was heading NW away from the Island, but people said this wouldn't amount to much.. However, today the intensity of this thing has risen so much...There was a big energy jump earlier, see this chart: [link to www.avcan.org] Someone mentioned on Volcano Cafe that since 18th March, there has been over 700 Earthquakes. At this rate, this is going to beat the other years record.... [link to volcanocafe.wordpress.com] Fingers crossed that this only leads to a small sub-marine eruption, but saying that, that energy rise does give a cause for some concern.....I hope them Islanders are prepared for whatever may come.... |

(25/03/2013 - 20: 00 h kuwait Canary 17:00 - UTC) The energy of the system rises too fast, faster, will not endure long at this rate. ... moves toward a point of no return in which you will have energy for a rash... already that the stretches of intrusion continues... trains seismic, and overlap with increasingly strong earthquakes of pressurization. The previous swarm is the previous step more or less through the Center and looks like now, he has released more than one-third of the sanjuanera... is that that was brutal... and more than half that the first swarm to the left. Certainly vista power, for longer and starts to send or we go to the situation where the swarm already has enough energy for an eruption, but there are more and is if continuing up more, in two days we have swarm as we haven't seen so far with largest magnitude earthquakes, as Fernando would say I don't like anything the gait of the dog, this is accelerating too quickly and the authorities still do not release, thing that already touches the recklessness, since with earthquakes of this magnitude very different to the rash of problems appear, and remember that several of the dead in the Islands previous eruptions were not by lava or ash and gases whether, but the earthquake that preceded it (Enrique from Kuwait) remember that in the moment in which we are, would that imagine that we are at the end of the pipe with magma that has been formed and that supports all active intrusion pressure and ongoing, someone has thought what if the pipe breaks at any point of their journey on the other hand?, and I would remind you that the magma comes from the center of the Gulf the coast forward up to go to the West... you remember, because all that I put in quarantine area... from los Llanillos, passing Sabinosa, white sands and until the Orchilla lighthouse with the area of peaks and part of the julan... almost anything... [link to www.avcan.org] I put as a reminder, since it is very important to report that the earthquakes have been felt in most 2.5, these IGN puts them in your list, in which facilitates filling the questionnaire: [link to www.ign.es] if still is not on the list, or it is noticing is not an earthquake, but vibrations, odours, deformations, behavior anomalous of animals, smoke, spots, noises or other things, then have to go and fill in the following questionnaire that has a text box at the end to put the sense ^ _-. [link to www.02.ign.es] at 012 may report earthquakes or any anomalies observed by calling the number 012 (payment therefore is DIVERTED the call) or directly by calling the number which marks the 012 so we don't charge if we have national flat rate: 012 = 922 23 93 01. I never mentioned fearmongering as I believe another volcano could start, feeling those quakes and not knowing with certainty what is happening must be very worrying to the residents. I just ( as do Avcan ) do not believe in the mega tsunami being produced by El Hierro. |

SHZ are long period to mid range seismometers. SHZ 20 sps event triggered 1.18300e+08 C/m @ 1.0Hz EHZ are very short period seismometers. EHZ 200 sps event triggered 8.3885e+08 C/m/s @ 10.0 Hz They will both show the same quakes but will look different because of their differing frequencies. |
