Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30900086 You should have posted Star Fruit. I shall add it to the list! :-) "Only one candle left to burn now, before the darkness comes" "Happiness consumes itself like a flame. I am really wanting to try that one I was just looking at an ehow article for how to prepare it. When I saw the ones at Winco last time I was there I would have gotten one to try it but I couldn't figure out which ones were the best pick. A lot of them had started to mold. I noticed they had them all individually wrapped in plastic. I'm guessing it's extremely perishable like Acai berries and Figs are. Figs are my favorite fruit! Its a challenge to find them fresh here though. The dried ones do not compare!! They are too sweet! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28604765 What I find interesting is that these fruits do not have a strong flavor, or are very tart. It interesting that here in the states we prefer very sweet berries. They started carrying Starfruit here at Food 4 Less. I like getting produce there sometimes. They have huge aloe leaves for a dollar. They have a good deal sometimes on papayas and avocados as well as other fruits and vegetables. That is an interesting thought! We really do seem to have the worst sweet tooth in comparison to other countries. What did you think of the melon? Quoting: goodmockingbird They smell horrible, but the taste is nothing like the smell. I've never seen them before, but I was just reading the wiki on them... The edible flesh emits a distinctive odour that is strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Some people regard the durian as pleasantly fragrant; others find the aroma overpowering and revolting. The smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust, and has been described variously as almonds, rotten onions, turpentine, and gym socks. The odour has led to the fruit's banishment from certain hotels and public transportation in southeast Asia... I think I'll skip that one. Thanks Obsidian for the post! |
