He's the guy that saved the kid, not the kid who got saved. I'd just tell 'em "fuck off, I ain't going" if I didn't have insurance. Hell, I live in Canada where I would be covered but I would still tell 'em "fuck you." |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 17565202 Canada 08/02/2012 08:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The nearly $2,600 billed to a 17-year-old lifeguard who rescued a drowning boy off the coast of Oregon is being paid by anonymous donors. Quoting: Jilly23 John Clark of Vancouver, Wash., a trained lifeguard, jumped through the breakers and heavy swells to reach the boy in the ocean, reported KOIN-TV. Clark then calmed the boy and kept him afloat until watercraft arrived to take them to shore. Clark and the 12-year-old boy were taken to the hospital, which Clark thought was standard procedure. But a few weeks later he was billed for the hospital services. The emergency room bill came to $449. The physician's bill was $227. The 15-mile ride in the ambulance was $1,907. The total bill for saving a young man's life was nearly $2,600. [link to news.yahoo.com] im sure that was there way of saying thank you? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21085331 Dan Clark, John Clark's dad, said that although the bill has not yet been paid two people have stepped forward to pay it in full. "I've been in contact with them [the donors], and they're going to present my son with a check for the hospital," Dan Clark said. "They want to remain anonymous." This too shall pass... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1071414 United States 08/02/2012 08:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It wasn't a bill for saving the kids life, it was one for going to the hospital. He really shouldn't have, but he probably didn't know he could say no thank you and walk away. He's a kid though, so things like that can happen. He won't make the same mistake twice I bet. *Going to the hospital if it isn't needed. If you aren't dying at the moment, NEVER take an ambulance. It costs too much. They do great work in the main, so if you need it, it's worth the price, but if you don't, just get a ride with someone else and use some common sense as to if you go or not. |
