I think Belgian beer is the best beer.

I was very pleased to find some when I was in Taiwan, but calling it the best in the world is probably very subjective. Also to the beer-lover GLPers in Beijing, I recommend the "Tree Bar" with a wide selection of Belgian beers:

Leffe is very average mainstream beer here :) So is Stella. But I know they are marketing it pretty hard outside our borders.

I remember drinking some of that Belgian Beer in little green bottles. It has an aftertaste similar to urine. I didn't mine since, I kind of like that taste but it does taste like pee.

Lot's of great micro breweries here. The USA has a lot of great micro breweries as well.

Very good one. Unfortunately we can't buy it in stores and have to go straight to the monastery, and even there, you can buy only one case per car.

It's rarity probably helped to build it's reputation...

Our pilsner bottles are usually brown.

They make cheese too :P And they are awesome people. You can also usually stay there for some times if you want, for a spiritual retreat.

I drink warm Warsteiner German Lager all the time. It tastes fantastic warm, actually.

Great American beers there every year, believe it or not.

Unfortunately, most American microbreweries seem to think the main ingredient of beer should be hops!

Yea, I'm not a fan of overly hoppiness anymore. I drank too much Sierra Nevada and got absolutely sick of heavy hoppy beer.

like I said .... I say erdinger is the best beer that I have ever had .... and can say that I have had many .... I spend a lot of time travelling throught europe for business and love beer ... so drink loads

Oh, U have a knowlidge ? Original Pilsen and Budweiser are brewed in their towns of the origin : Plzen/Pilsen mark and Ceske Budejovice / Budweiser mark for centuries - nothing simillar to the false American trade marks. Their original trademarks are falsified all over the world. Nowadays, small breweries like those in Maly Rohozec, Nova Paka, Policka, Humpolec/Bernard mark etc. are producing excellent bears of nonconform tastes. No wonder that our little walley has the highest bear consumptiom per capita in the world/from time to time, Belgium or Denmark is one point better/.

that's the Westvleteren 12, still world's best beer @ Ratebeer. Keep an eye on beerinvest.eu , it's Struise's webshop and once in a while they have Westvleteren too for a price to outcompete the eBay scams. But it's overrated, the Westvleteren 12. The European ones after it in Ratebeer's list (Närke Kaggen Stormaktsporter and Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel) are way better.

If you guys had to pick the top two, which two would they be?

I was in Belgium last month, the beer was pretty good but no match for our local Oregon microbrews. I like IPAs best, couldn't find any in Europe.

If you're hooked on Belgain, try Westmalle Tripple and Maredsous Double.

My favorite beer (and I brew my own just like it) is Wipe-Out IPA by Pizza Port So. California.

I will add those to my list.

Hope they have them.

I'm not totally hooked on Belgian, but I'm trying to taste them all.
