I've been on my own without a family for the past 6 years, since I was 17, so I'm not too keen on these things.. but I don't remember Easter being one of those "big deal" holidays, where you have a traditional big meal. Quoting: lil*missIt is for us. We had the children and grandchildren over yesterday. We played baseball in the park and then wandered around the lake for a while. Came home and had a very nice meal: Potatoes roasted in olive oil, fresh basil, garlic, and oregano. Carrots rolled in butter and sprinkled with fresh thyme. Garlic bread. Filet mignon on the barbeque sprinkled with garlic. Apple crisp and strawberry rhubarb pie with whipped cream. And a nice bottle of merlot for the adults and raspberry cranberry juice for the kids. It was a lovely family day..... Sounds Like a very lovely day, indeed. Nice dinner! |

The funniest part was when the kids saw Grandpa and Grandma hitting one out, and fielding the ball...as my grandson said, Wow, you guys are okay for old people.LOL My son (kindergartner) reminds my parents often that they are old. He pats them on the back when they do something 'youngish' while saying the same thing. |

Ham, twice baked sweet potato, long grain wild rice, Salad. Never had twice baked sweet potato... mmm, sounds interesting. No cornbread, rolls or biscuits with that? croissants.......... And a pistachio bundt cake for dessert. Cut your sweet potato in half long ways, bake until soft, then scoop out the potato and mix some buttermilk, butter, cinnamon, brown sugar. The amounts are personal taste, if you want real sweet add extra sugar. use a mixer whip the potatoes until fluffy scoop back into skins and bake again for about 20-30 min. |

Like dumplins or biskits It's mentioned in the bible, when the Israelites spent forty days and nights in the desert. Traditionally, I believe, it is cooked on flat rock near the fire. It's more akin to the flat breads that you see the the grocery stores. Last Edited by lil*miss on 04/04/2010 02:34 PM |

I'm not religious one bit, and if I was I would still eat what I want to eat. With all the crap going on in the world if god wants to send me to hell for eating Ham oh well I guess. Maybe god needs to get his priorities straight. Last Edited by Brwnstown on 04/04/2010 02:35 PM |
