Do you have Eczema? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 708377 United States 08/06/2009 11:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Since you brought up the subject of eczema, I thought I would warn people of something. My son has it, so I have to be concerned about it. Back before the swine flu scare, the government was going on and on about preparing for a small pox pandemic. I found out that people with eczema should not get the small pox shot. Look at the link above. It seems they swept the small pox thing under the rug in favor of this flu. Since many say the flu thing is overblown, I was wondering if they are really preparing for the small pox thing after all. That disease would be more in keeping with the drastic measures that the government is preparing. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 192197 United States 08/07/2009 01:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Now that you know the benefits of apple cider vinegar for treating eczema, what is stopping you from enjoying its benefits? If it is the taste, try this. Instead of adding it to plain water, add it into fresh fruit or vegetable juices. It taste great and gives your juice an extra zing. Do take note that when you are buying apple cider vinegar, make sure it is unfiltered, unpasteurized and not distilled. Next time when you think if the phrase "an apple a day keeps the doctor away", think if apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar, or simply known as cider vinegar, has been commonly deemed as a "cure all" solution. It is made from cider or apple must, and is often sold unfiltered, with a brownish-yellow color; it often contains mother of vinegar. Many who have used apple cider vinegar testifies positive results in bring relief to various health conditions. How can apple cider vinegar help those with eczema? Firstly, apple cider vinegar is extremely rich is vitamins and minerals which can give the immune system a good boost. A strong immune system is the first step to eczema healing. If you have a good immune system, half the battle is won. One of the main vitamin which is extremely beneficial to those with eczema is beta carotene. Apple cider vinegar's beta-carotene is said to be in a "natural, easy to digest form. It is also very rich in potassium which is helpful in easing the effects of allergies. Other immune system boosting vitamins in apple cider vinegar includes amino acids, bioflavonoids and antioxidant. As apple cider vinegar contains antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, it is beneficial for people with skin infection and dry skin conditions such as eczema. To relief itch and dryness of the skin, try applying a mixture of 50/50 of apple cider vinegar and water on the affected areas. If you use this on a child, make it more diluted as the mixture can be quite stinging. A diet lacking in fiber and enzymes can lead to constipation. Constipation cause accumulation of toxins in the body can this can cause eczema flare ups. Apple cider vinegar contains insoluble fiber which aids digestion and elimination, promotes regularity, and contributes to bowel cleaning. To avoid constipation, in addition of more fruits and vegetables in your diet, try adding a daily dose of apple cider and honey (optional). For those who suffer from seborrheic dermatitis, try applying apple cider on the scalp and slowly massage it into the roots of the hair. Leave the vinegar to stand for a full hour before rinsing your hair. Apply cider vinegar can effectively destroy the bacteria and fungus which cause dandruff and itchy scalp. For extra strength, you can add tea tree oil, which is another powerful hair tonic with antibacterial properties. [link to ezinearticles.com] |

I am glad to say that after all these years of research and readings, I have gained a deeper understanding of this skin disorder and thus able to help my son. What you can find in this blog are my findings and research on eczema, in particular and allergies, in general. For a start, make sure you have at least 2 to 3 litres of clean, pure water a day. Water is important for eliminating toxins from the body. Take bath at least 2 to 3 times a day. Many people with eczema tend to avoid taking bath for whatever reasons known to them. Try soaking yourself in the tub filled with colloidal oatmeal or coconut oil. If you can, bath in the lake and river, followed by sun bath. Do not dry yourself with towel but let the water dry in the sun instead. Rub the eczema affected area with coconut oil. This will help the skin to stay soft and moist. Consume more vegetables and fruits. I find juicing very beneficial. Cut down on acidic food such as salt, cereals, sugar, fats, dairy products, onions and radish. Carrot, apples and muskmelon are especially beneficial to eczema healing. Carrots are high in betacarotene while apples has papain enzyme which is great for healing problematic skin. Adding probiotics to your diet is highly recommended too. Some babies with eczema fare much better during breastfeeding but get worse once they are weaned. One reason is due to the rich probiotics in breast milk. Another benefit of taking more raw fruits and vegetables is the ease of bowel elimination. I can’t stress the importance of regular bowel movement enough especially for people with eczema. You might notice flareups whenever your bowel system is clogged up. These simple healthy practices is not just for those with eczema. Everyone should practice this simple healthy daily habits. My BF got a prescription of Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% for a reaction he had from a weed so I tried it on my eczema and it's working great. Only use it once a day and moisturize at night. I thought I would never get rid of this ugly itchy patch of eczema. Also Florasone does work very well for itching and it's homopathic. Also my mother just sent me a jar of rezema to use as a moisturizer which has emu oil as one of the ingredients. Hope this helps someone! |

The doctor prescribed cutivate, and that got rid of the eczema, but it always came back if I stopped applying it. But with the liver flushes, I don't have to apply anything. I get a little flaky skin, but that's nothing compared to what it used to be. I don't have to apply anything now. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 676821I've suffered with it badly my whole life - I've healed the rest, but under my ring is always there and flaring up from time to time - Aveeno lavendar lotion keeps it under control with no need for steroids. I had small spots on 5 fingers a couple of years ago and cleared those up with zinc ointment (diapers rash crème LOL ) and Band-Aids and used latex free gloves to wash dishes. Well I finally got my hands free and clear then developed spot on my foot which I could not get any relief from no matter what I tried. I'm using the prescription crème as a last resort and use it very sparingly. I've read with a lot of these prescription topical creams your eczema can go away then come back with a vengeance when you stop. That's why very important to stick with natural stuff. |
