Back in 2009 ,Boeing started. To update it to the F-15SE

Indians are not dumb and I am sure they were highly trained. The F-15 was made in the 70's and needs to be replaced.

I wonder what 'restrictions' were placed on the F-15 as mentioned in the article?

Of course, this might all be a sales ploy by whoever is pimping the F-22, F-35 or even the Su-30 for that matter.

The Dutch took down 1 of these 4 you are naming here... so that means 3 left that could be shot by F15's because the Dutch used an F16 to shoot down the Mig 29.

I'm dissappointed none of you saw through to the real motives behind the article(s). Its all just a ruse. I'm not saying the Russians don't make good aircraft, or that the Indians have good pilots. Both are very true.

But this is all about Airforce posturing, nothing more. They want their billion(s) dollar toys (F-35, others)that are so very unpopular in many circles, and have to justify them. It's hard to justify replacing an aircraft that has never been shot down anywhere in the world in air-to-air combat. So they have to create a percieved need, and that is what articles like this are doing.

The F-15, just like the A-10, does it's job too damn well, and neither are popular with the Airforce brass because the only way you make it to the top in the AF is by being involved with fancy hi-tech projects like the F-35.

They were extremely expensive to maintain, and their engines were only lasting 400 flight hours (as opposed to 1500 on an F-15). I think the performance was good, but at too high a cost.

The F-15's have been around for a while. They had some big dogfights with the Syrians over Lebanon in 1982. The Syrians lost about 70 Migs.

My dad was part of the team that designed and built the F-15 back in the early '70's. It was revolutionary at the time took the rest of the world 30 years to catch up to it.
That plane could out climb, out shoot, and out run any adversary in the sky. Nothing came close!
That's why the Russian planes look an awful lot like the F-15!

The thing is, Russia today is bullshit. in more test the F-15C has had a 9:1 ratio over the Su-27 and 9 of the F-15's kills are MIG-29's. The U.S buys jets not to "see why there so bad" not the Russian excuse to make BS because they are mad that red flag they lose, but to see if the F-15 still has the goods and it does, now the F-15 and Su-27 are technologically the same, but speed, turn in high speeds and BVR with WVR the F-15C wins and has won every time against the Su-27 and Su-27Ub along with the Su-27SK. So really U.S buys them to test, Russia won't buy U.S aircraft to keep there propaganda image inline that there not buying it because there jets are SOOO good, but really every Air-to-air Su-27 does well but the F-15C dominates. My brother is an F-16 pilots he has seen the results i have the results, form the french,germans, Americans and british. The red flags show that the F-15C is superior then every Su-27 variant and MIG-29. Im not ignorant, I love the Sukhoi and MIG but, really when down to facts the F-15 and F-16 has proven and are much better.

If you read the article. first it says that the F-15's were handicapped. Which means this isn't a fair comparison.

And then a few lines down from that the truth of this story comes out. They are using this, "we got beat by these SU and migs" so WE NEED the F22 and F35. "they aren't luxuries we need the bazillion dollar hunka junks see or else we'll lose a war."

Their agenda is to scare congress and the american people into giving them the money for the F22 and F35.

Russia barely a super power trying to compete against the worlds only hyper power America.

the key to the f-15 has been its radar system wich has made it capable of shooting down Russian made fighter before the Russian aircrafts radar system can detect the f-15..

in a gun fight the f-15 is no good and a su-27 would kick its ass, but that's not how we fight wars...
