The reason they built tunnels at the entrance of Chesapeake Bay when they built the roadway across the Bay was for this very reason ... so the US Navy ships in Norfolk and further up in the Chesapeake would NOT be trapped by a bridge collapse. Why in the hell are they putting US Navy ships into a port area where they can be trapped by a bridge collapse? Has "Common Sense" left the US Navy's command?
