Mainly because I need it to keep my sinuses from plugging up. the hot water seems to help. i am not addicted in any conventional sense, but I do really like having my coffee. (at least 6 mugs a day). Coffee really doesn't wake me up or give me energy anymore. in fact I sleep like a baby if I have a mug or 2 right before bed. And interesting thing I have noted. I bought a bottle of caffeine pills several years ago to keep in the car in case I get sleepy while driving. Those actually wake me up reasonably well. They say coffee has drugs that are actually sedative in nature. The caffeine pills are straight caffeine, hence lack the sedative aspect. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 02/28/2024 04:08 AM Justme |

After a few weeks, that went away. I sometimes have a cup of tea at some point during the day, but that's about it. It's not that big of a deal. Start making fruit smoothies. Apples, grapes and carrots give you more energy than Java. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83984338 After I eat I feel sleepy. Anything I do makes me sleepy. However my face looks youthful, full of collagen, and 0 bags under my eyes, but I'm always tired. I don't know how I'm going to live without caffeine. That feeling will pass when you kick the addiction. It will take about 2 - 4 weeks. Unfortunately you'll go through phases of feeling pretty crappy (lethargy, headaches, withdrawal symptoms) during that time, but push through it and you'll feel great. It's exactly the same with kicking a sugar addiction. Once you get through it, it's a revelation because you have no craving for caffeine - you just don't want it. Here are the main effects of kicking caffeine that I found. Far better sleep (going 8 hours with no waking up needing the bathroom). No brain fog/much better focus. No 'afternoon lull' where you feel the need to nap or get away from demanding tasks. Better skin and general youthful/fresh look about your face (I really mean this). |

You may have some infection that's wearing you down, like Epstein -Barr (the mono virus), candida, or Lyme. Diabetes can also cause fatigue. Do you sleep on a regular schedule? Try eating the majority of your food in a six hour window, then only water or black coffee for the other 18 hrs. Coffee is actually pretty healthy, minus the cream and sugar. I don't think the coffee is the problem, it's a bandaid for something else causing fatigue. You could try water fasting for a few days and see how you feel afterwards. Also some general blood work would rule out things like vitamin deficiencies, diabetes, etc. |

Regular Coffee is 1-5% caffeine. Decaf is 0.02% caffeine. Caffeine not even measured in percentage of course i meant 5% of normal. So if you drink a pot of decaf before you're being "good" i bet you feel just fine. |

The caffeeine would dissolve in the Benzene, then they would discard the benzene and sell you the coffee that remained. Which no doubt still had some benzene in it. Like washing it in gasoline! No thanks! Justme |

I don't know how I'm going to live without caffeine. You’ll get over it eventually. It took me two weeks of headaches. Then frightening ocular migranes. Now I’m fine. I’d never go back to drinking coffee, I’m so much more relaxed, not angry, calm. I’m at the airport with people freekin out everywhere, I’m cool. Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast.
