Something weird...any one else notice ?
My whole life Russia has been called the Motherland.

In old WW1 and WW2 movies it was called the Motherland.

In books, in propaganda posters, in propaganda speeches it has always been Called the Motherland.

Hell.. it's known as Mother Russia.

Now all a sudden...maybe since the start of the SMO...it's called the Fatherland ?

Media, politicians, writers...even the Russians themselves are now calling the it Fatherland.

Germany was always known as the Fatherland.

So what the fuck gives ? Is it a new or old form of propaganda ?..is it a Mandela effect ?

I know history is hard but one was the Soviet Union and one is Russia. There's more to it if you know the language but keeping it simple here.

Mother Russia ?

It was known since it's inception as Mother Russia...and called the Motherland.

Even after the collapse of the ussr it was called the Motherland.

It's only been called the Fatherland the last year or two.

That one is easy...when a good portion of the territory was no longer Persians.

A variety of peoples inhabits the country now = Iran.

In the past..it was the Persian empire conquering the lands around them...the last few hundred years...it's been the opposite.

I think it is mostly just people calling it fatherland dont know what the fuck they are talking about. On top of that there may or may not be some official propaganda involved.

Links... lots of links tard, to support your harebrained notion. We all know it's 'Mother Russia', it is up to you to show evidence of it being calling 'Fatherland' and if you plan to throw the 'Mandela Effect' thing into it, best have a LOT of links.

They was known as the Motherland..pre communism...during communism...and after communism.

For over a thousand years....it's been Mother Russia.

Seems like since the SMO began..it has been referred to as the Fatherland.

The Russians themselves are calling it the Fatherland.

Even the tucker/Putin interview...Putin refers to it several times as the Fatherland.

In their media...in their war propaganda videos, the writers and intellectuals call it the Fatherland....just recently though.
Now if something is getting lost in the translation...I don't think so.

Seems something has changed...politically, socially or spiritually on the world stage.

Motherland is an approximate translation of Rodina, which is more appropriate to be translated as Birthland. Fatherland and Rodina are used in, say, 5/95 proportion.

Ok...I have never read it in print..never heard it or seen it before....until a couple years ago.

So now all of a sudden why are politicos and media using the Fatherland as reference ?

I always thought it was more symbolic and a givin...not just a personal preference.

Just seems odd...that I haven't heard Russia called the Motherland in 2 years...but have heard it called the Fatherland dozens of times.

Thank you for your answer.

it's Fatherland during wartimes or Otechestvo.

the ww2 in Russia is called Great Fatherland War

Patriotic is not the right word for it. It's a latin word and doesn't match the real translation.
