Wealthy Doctors At Non-Profit Hospitals Get Student Loans Forgiven ($350K & Up) By Biden As "Public Servants"
Nonprofit hospitals make up 80% of the hospitals in the US. THEY PAY NO TAXES because supposedly we are told they "give back to their communities". Yet many of them make a ton of money and give nothing. That's why they dominate the market. They have assets in the billions. Who wouldn't want to get on that gravy train?

They are exempt from federal and state taxes, property taxes, and sales tax. They also receive special treatment for other taxes, such as unemployment insurance.

They don't contribute THEY TAKE.

Now doctors who work at these money-sucking joints are being targeted by the Biden admin for loan forgiveness as Public Service is classified as any US govt. employee or anyone who works for a tax-exempt operation (which as stated above 80% of these hospitals are).

These doctors who are among the richest are now seeing $350-400K in loans forgiven by the Biden admin under his "Public Service Loan Forgiveness" program. They are trying to frame it as firefighters, nurses, etc. But it's wealthy doctors who are benefitting.

Not once does it mention wealthy doctors who earn among the highest in America ($200K+) and don't need wholesale loan forgiveness. Many who already come from privileged backgrounds have now paid a pittance for their education and they don't give free service to anyone.

Does anybody here ever remember receiving "free healthcare" from any of these so-called nonprofits?

There are also zero tax consequences to this forgiveness as well. So it truly is the ultimate freebie giveaway from the Biden folks.

Sounds about par for the course for this administration. They need loyal servants to help continue covering up their treasonous CoV abomination we just witnessed. What better way than to use taxpayer dollars? No different than Ukraine…

Non-Profits are still taxable and liable for taxes.
They just can write off donations with a loophole.

At this point in time, with Insurance Industry involved, the US government owns the US Hospital system.

We are moving closer and closet to communism than we realize.

But frame up the law as the law is, not just parroting some catch phrases about non-profits and tax laws.

Biden is only a spokesman for other people in power. There is a posse that needs addressing, not him alone.

I really don't have problems with certain high-demand fields forgiving or subsidizing loans so long as the person works in that field for a given amount of time, such as 5 or 7 years. So doctors, nurses, teachers... If they can't find the workers, we need to do something. We must have doctors. We must have teachers. But all those people with degrees like Communications or psychology and they can't find jobs, well, that's just too bad for them. And the jobs like IT and engineering are making enough they don't need to have loans forgiven.

And how many cattle ranchers and farmers receive subsidies and subsidized loans to ship beef to Japan and grow sod? Or, they grow wasteful ethanol?

Family farm: free range beef, chicken, pork, and mutton. Organically grown veggies, fruits, and nuts.

Average cattle rancher: 100 head as a right off on 500 acres use the rest of the land for hunting and playing with their tax-dollar subsidized toys.

"Salt of the Earth" small business owner owns three convenience stores that sells paraphernalia for meth, crack, and heroin users. And booze to people who drink and drive.

Doctors aren't as well off as you think they once were.

The time and effort to become a doctor is a minimum of 11 years from high school.

This same time sink would be completely different financially speaking of they pursued other careers.

While there are bad apples, a lot of doctors do not want their kids to be doctors because the life is one of service and sacrifice.

Before you shit on doctors, you should understand the true dynamic at hand.

They literally can be anything else and make much more money.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it came with a stipulation that they need to keep providing service long term in exchange for forgiveness. This is alot of money we are talking about here. (Much more than many of those who will be paying the tab may ever make in their lifetimes.)

But as we see, physicians have been leaving the field in droves. Especially in the past 2 years.

More than 145,200 clinicians exited the healthcare workforce in 2021 and 2022 with physicians—in particular internal medicine and family practice doctors—at the head of the line.

The past two calendar years saw about 71,300 physicians leave the profession, or nearly 7% of the country’s total active physician workforce. They cited a range of reasons for their departure such as concerns of COVID-19 infection, “untenable” hours, emotional toll and stress

This will make it even easier for them to not provide the service that Americans will be paying for for decades to come.

Next emergency, they can just split with no repercussions.

YOU should NOT be revealing this little secret of the Medical Profession!!

Sure, it's been going on for YEARS now (decades in fact) .. but nobody in the Medical Profession talks about it outside of the hallways of the Medical Schools and at the Cocktail Parties that Doctors have with each other.

YOU will ruin the game if YOU talk about it!! THAT it a disservice to those who will be making $200,000 when first hired out of Medical School!! (some make considerably more than that - son of one acquaintance started at 1 million dollars because of his specialty) What are you trying to do? Prevent them from buying a million dollar house when they get their first job?

you guys are actually tards lol

it’s AT MINIMUM 10+ years of making monthly payments on time, before forgiveness is even considered. student loan repayment is largely income based (at 100k salary you owe 1,500$ a month. that’s 180 grand you MUST PAY before forgiveness), and docs usually make more than that. hell, they’ll pay off 80-90% of the loan before they’re eligible

BS.

With a starting salary of $200,000, the average monthly repayment cost is $330-$370 during residency practice and $1,600-$2,300 post-residency.

Residency can be anywhere from 3 to 7 years.

So potentially some high paid specialists with a long residency might have paid very little for nearly a decade and now be getting loan forgiveness.

Anyway, at most, they are paying:

3 years $370/month = $13,320
7 years $2,300/month = $193,200

For 7 years, they have also been making $200K+ per year.

So income is north of $1 million.

Verdict? They can afford to pay for most of their loans.

All doctors aren't rich. They are in it because they come from a family of high standards, they like helping people, they have personal goals and interest in education, they have chosen a lifestyle that suits them.

These threads complaining about poor poor me with no money are so shallow and aimed at political upheaval. What a waste of time.

It is a slippery slope. Especially how they have defined it as "public service" loan forgiveness.

How about churches?

The IRS automatically recognizes churches as 501(c)3 charitable organizations.

How can what they do be considered any less of a "public service" deserving of all debt forgiveness as well?

Perhaps a far right leaning administration would perceive their activities as just as deserving.

Joel Osteen operates a huge stadium that accomodates 50,000 people. 2 days ago he ripped up his $100 million loan on TV and thanked God. Imagine how much more he could do with funding if he didn't have to worry about the debt if he could take it out and get it all forgiven as a "public servant".

At minimum "public servant" needs to be redefined.

Right now, anyone working for governement OR a 501(c)3 is considered a "public servant".

And considering the nonprofit sector is the third-largest private employer in the U.S. economy, that's alot of people to consider.
