All those off grid videos are fake as fuck…

i don't know why he equates "off grid" with no running water and no indoor plumbing.

Off Grid means you aren't tied to an outside electrical or water system that isn't your own. That's all.

You can be off grid and have electricity from micro-hyrdo, solar or wind power, indoor plumbing and running water.

I plan on building my off grid place in the next few years.

it's expensive to do and maintain, but if you can do it, that's awesome!

He meant to say it's exorbitantly expensive, like out of the reach of anyone who isn't selling a property on the coast.
Solar and wind can provide all your energy needs, if you can drop 20k$ on panels to start, then replace 1k$ batteries per year, 10% power loss per year, then replace everything at 20 years....
Seems easier and cheaper to go grid.

yes, easier for me that's for sure and less expensive, but i do think it's awesome for those who can do and maintain/pay for it to be maintained. most don't have it like that though.

i agree with his definition of off-grid. i also don't associate it with no plumbing or running water.

Watched this video earlier today. Excellent story of these folks, who happen to frequent this cyber bar.

Great story of two people who grew up what I call the country way, fell in love, start a family, build their homes without a bank being involved. Hard way to live, very old school.

Which folks could take a lesson from. Might come in handy when SHTF

That's my feeling when I watched "Alaska the Last Frontier" TV show.

It's quite the joke.

They say they are subsistence living but have millions of dollars worth of equipment, excavators, fishing boats and boats worth over $100k and 6 brand new ATV's and everything and I'm like "Does it take a million dollars to live a subsistence lifestyle?"
