From what the UPS drivers told me their pay for drivers is as follows. Most drivers with 10 years experience are making 30 an hour or more. They are paid for 8 hours and any time past that is overtime. Even if its a Monday work 9 hours you get an hour of overtime. All the drivers use to be package handlers loading the trucks. That is the only way via the union to become a driver. A light day is around 100 stops a day. During Christmas rush it is normal to run 200+ packages a day. Most of them were making $120k+ a year. They earn it because they have to hurry or risk losing their jobs.
The loaders are not union until I think it was 3 years? Kinda fuzzy on that. Almost all of them had stories of being so tried they would fall asleep behind the wheel on the way home.
A good side hussle for anyone interested is they hire people with vans and such to help deliver overflow for about $150 a day.
I got all this intel from being a shuttle driver for them. The local UPS yard is to small during Christmas rush so they hire companies to shuttle them from a parking lot to the warehouse and back.

True about the overtime but there are days they work under 8 hours.
