also most elected officials come from counties that have only went one way since a very long time.

for instance, the county i live in is a solid red conservative county, anyone running on the D ticket will not win, period.

so everyone runs as an R, regardless of if they lean conservative or are flaming liberals..


what really matters is if the current big wigs (judges, etc) allow them to even be on the ballot...

the judge here was been on the bench for 25 years, and pretty much has handpicked what county attorneys, and elected courtroom folks she wants in power... sheriff, clerk, etc...
