Good point, floating that there "may be an informant" could give the story some level of credibility.

If someone is on the inside…how can anyone rule out the informant planting the information? I mean like the FBI already lied on fisa warrants and many in leadership have stated they would break the law to remove trump…even within the military. They say they have a higher moral authority as their justification?

This is why you never conduct this without end to end validation with independent oversight and both sides present…a prior president is not like any citizen and absolutely deserves different treatment to avoid anything indicating abuse of power or a political attack!

This at least was handled extremely poorly and is an absolute failure in the realm of destroying any appearance of impartiality by the FBI and DOJ…it looks very bad for our form of government…

I can assure most republicans are asking why democrats always get away with appalling crimes and their is never anything from DOJ…I’m all for everyone who committed crimes to be equally held accountable…the problem is they are NOT!

For anyone who is a target of attacks, as Trump is, it only makes good sense to have some way to assess who among your trusted allies is actually worthy of that trust.

One way of doing that is to let only very select individuals know certain pieces of information (or misinformation) and then see what happens... does that information find its way into the news cycle? Do your enemies suddenly turn up in possession of it? Do the actions of those who oppose you, reflect/indicate that they must have known, somehow?

Then you know that the person you gave that data to, is no longer trustworthy.

This is actually a fairly common practice.

If Trump is wise, he will assume that Mar-a-Lago is bugged as hell now. The average person would think, "I will never have a private conversation there again!". But a smarter person would continue to hold private conversations there (of a non-critical nature, of course) and would discuss enough legit private conversation to be convincing, and then slip into that conversation enough crucial bits of misinformation to cause whoever gets it to act contrary to their own interests, either by sending them on a wild goose chase or by committing assets to bogus threats.

Trump may have already done this, such as privately mentioning to a certain person (who? doesn't matter) who turned out to be a plant, that he had certain damning information in those boxes of documents... thus sending DOJ into a blind panic which precipitated the raid... making them look bad, and bolstering his position with regard to 2024. That's just one of many possible ways it may have played out.
